BD/BE question

this may be a very stupid question! i need to register a new owner next year for BD and BE, they have now intention of competing the horse but obviously need to be members so the horse can join, so for BD can i join them as 'non-competing/training' members of do they have to be full members?
also, do BE do a non-competing members thing? or do i have to pay the normal fee for them? x

not sure but for BSJA the owner can be a non-jumping member so i'd imagine it's the same for BD and BE.

With BD you join them as owners, yourself as a rider and the horse obviously as a horse.

From the rule book

"It is a legal requirement of BD that legal owners of horses registered with BD must also be members of BD. This is important since where the stated owner of a registered horse is not the legal owner this could invalidate the liability insurance under the BD policy"

Horse registration is currently £48.50 and think owners and riders is about £45.00 but don't quote me on that bit.

full membership is £55, but £32 for non-competing members, so can i join the owners as non-competing members and save £23?! x

I'm really not sure to be honest and the website isn't much help other than to say owners must be members but it doesn't say which type does it?

Best to give them a ring I think.

I think for BE the owner has to be a full member which at present is £125/year.

get the owner to 'sell' the horse to the ride for a nominal fee.
