Thats good because i already have another couple of my pupils planned to be 'thrust' in that dirrection!!! Think its great idea and good fun by all accounts.
 
It is really good-I did it last year-it is good fun and I would definately recommend it.
Carthorse: u represent your region at an inter region comp over 2 days at the college and there is a team test to do on each day and a warm up one each day too if u want. there is a team and individual championship for those selected to go and the winners and placings are decided on the combined scores of the team tests each day. hope that makes sense. really good fun tho and very social!

i wrote a piece in the BD mag about it-its in the aug/sept 2007 issue. would defi recommend it.
 
Ps. to add to FinnMcCouls restrictions-i believe u also must be over 18, not have done BYRDS in 2008, and not have competed at the nationals/winters that year or in the previous year. thats what last years schedule said. also only certain group riders can compete at a certain level-eg u can only do prelim if u are a group 7/8 rider. also your horse must be of that level on BD points. hope that all makes sense! Last year it ran up to Elementary but I believe it is running from plm to medium this year. hope that helps!
