BD no incentives. Dull ?

This is not constructive particularly but reading this thread made me chuckle about me 2nd out of 2 rosette from e-riders for one of their 'highest placed awards'. For an essentially well done for participating prize, it was a very nice frilly to receive unexpectedly in the post!
I got a 1st out of 1 rosette a while back. I tried to return it but the organiser said I deserved it for perseverance. It's in my wooden box and I'd like to think in years to come I can think how far we've come (crosses fingers, touches wood etc etc)

E-riders are excellent for running all types of tests under BD judges and with good prizes. I think their riding school league is fabulous - wish it had been around when I was working at a RS

It was just lovely to see such engagement from the sponsors who stumped up all the little fun prizes. It doesn't matter specifically what the prizes were (and yes I guess they would end up in the bin which isn't very 21st century) but it all just made if look fun. Thinking I should drop the dressage and go back to gymkhana games 😁
Try working equitation - no idea if the prizes are any good but at least you get to do handy pony 😆. It's also a really fun way to apply your dressage skills to tasks.

You’d turned up competed etc. not sure fault no one else in class. Definitely good to keep as a measure of where you are.

I competed pre the Gold, Silver and Bronze era when it was all open classes at elementary and above,

I once competed in the same class as Stephen Clarke at both his and my horse’s first affiliated Elementary class. Me and my chunky little super cob came a close second to the maestro under a List 1 judge.

Admittedly my horse did the best test he ever did by a long way and Eternal Spirit was young and very green, but still.

I’m never one to hanker after getting a trinket for being less bad than the others, I like to aim high, even though I usually fall short.

It’s something I love about horse sports. As someone with an ex racehorse on farm DIY I competed against and have beaten a world champion on their world champion horse on equal open competition. Admittedly it was show jumping in a Newcomers when I wanted to win and they were schooling pre event season but all counts 😁. There’s not many sports where a grass roots amateur can compete against the very top. My current ex racehorse finished second to CDJ with a young rider European champion in third. He did have a better rider on than me and was great fun.

It's a special one to me as first e riders for me and the horse. Plus I adore the horse and it's a reminder of how far I've come from my first lesson with him. I think we'll do one of the new BD Intro tests for next month 😊
