I was just wondering why you have to send an A5 SAE with your entries? Trying to get a few off but don't have any A5 envelopes

Its in case you leave before the end. They then send your sheet/rossie/winnings to you. If you are def. staying to the end then I wouldnt bother.. I never do.

Ah I see... don't think there will be any rosettes to start with!

Do you send the official entry forms? And if so what happens when you run out?

Oh I should just say if you are getting a few off.. most places dont like getting the entries too early either. I usually send them off a couple of days before the entry closing date.

If I was you I would stick a little note in with your entry explaining that. I know that I did a whole months worth when we first started doing and got some sent back to me (using the envelope I sent lol) as unaccepted as they were too early.

Are you going anywhere exciting?

I've never sent an envelope with my entry and have been to competitions where they have stacks of unused envelopes from competitors....

The opening date thing is very confusing...

Try to let each venue have one, we have so much frustration when people qualify for things and we cant send them their ticket or if classes are cancelled and forms/money have to be sent back.
Some competitors dont even put their addresses on their forms and it can be so frustrating.
We always send rosettes/sheets on if they are left behind.
Envelopes are kept so just one should do the trick

Only required for posting back sheets if you do not stay to class end. If they cancel they can just rip up the cheque (may be worth sending SAE if you use a day ticket that might need recycling if there is a problem

A5 / C5 envelope is the largest in regular 1st class post. If it has a rosette in it it will be large post and cost you £1.06 (£1 fine and 6p postage. Second class "large" is 6p more than 1st class post, so please stamp up correctly.

We get a number of entries every week sent in under paid large envelopes. Not only does it cost £1.06, but it does mean that the entry takes an extra week to arrive

Ahh thanks for this Keysoe. This happened to me recently when i lwft an envelope for sheet to be sent and i had to pay a fine and collect from post office as i'd under stamped it.
