Anyone any experience of competing in either of the above? . I’m wanting to feel like I’m aiming for something, rather than just going out and riding a test wherever local that happens to have a dressage on.

I never managed to complete my Wobbleberry challenge, since I dislocated my shoulder on the xc last August at my first proper ODE. And I’m not in the right headspace to start jumping again, so I’m wanting to give my dressage a proper focus in place of the Wobbleberry challenge, as it were.

We’ve just stepped up to novice - as in, have ridden one novice test, but we won the class which I was thrilled about and gave me a huge boost.

So if anyone has any pearls of wisdom about Quest vs. Trailblazers (or something else??) I’d be really grateful.

Pic of me and unicorn in our novice test for interest and because I’m proud 😊 (reins too long, hands too low - but isn’t he just so handsome?!)

Thanks in advance!

Why not do both, that's what I am doing? Check out the eligibility for your horse. I have to do novice for Quest because Rose has points at medium, albeit nonthing since jan 2016, however, she's eligible for prelim and Novice for trailblazers. I don't feel like a pot hunter as tbh her canter is rubbishATM but it's getting me out and giving a focus. Here is a pic of Rose, I've had her since November and she's ace and I can't resist posting a pic of her cos I am a bit in love! \oh and my reins are too long as well!_JES1898-(ZF-7784-80073-1-001).jpg

She’s gorgeous Oldie48!!

As far as I know he hasn’t got any BD points, he’d been doing BE. Although I think there’s a BD registration sheet in with his passport so I’d better check that - thanks.

Bluedanube - thanks, isn’t he?! And yes, I do!! Long reins, low hands and about a squillion other things too!!

Thanks, she is, I feel truly blessed but she's not easy to ride in canter ATM! Just go for it, enjoy competing your lovely horse, it doesn't matter how well you do as long as you enjoy it and it puts a smile on your face. I honestly feel that if you have a competition on the horizon it gives you focus, which in the winter months when it's an effort to ride is a huge help. (well it is for me anyway) Let us know how you get on and good luck.

I am trying to get second round qualifiers for trailblazers early on, so did one a couple of weeks ago for prelim and doing a second one this weekend for novice. Would have tried to get both in one outing but there was 4 and half hours wait between test which I thought was unacceptable. You ony need to get 58% to qualify for the second round, the second round is mre of an issue as it's based on number of entries. Quest is once a month with an additional one slotted in at half term. Trailblazers give you either a short or a long arena test, quest is all short arena, so I try to do the same test more than once (short arena) if can. i also know which test will suit Rose at the stage she is at, so try to find those if I can, so on average I expect to be out once every two weeks.

Would you be able to get to both sets of champs/regionals? If so I’d give both a go if you can fit it into your diary. I’m doing team quest but as I like to do a variety of things, I’m already finding it hard to fit in the next one., didn’t do the first one due to the ice.

Currently do quest, but the part I enjoy most is the team quest, if you can get a group together (7 of you can register, but only 3 or 4 people required for each competiton)
It means that while I can go on my own & just do my quest, generally I am always meeting someone at the venue. Our team has competitors from intro to novice & are very supportive. We didn't all know each other, our instructor helped with finding like minded people. We've all got the goal, individually & as a team of regionals & it's fab having someoneelse there at each competiton to share the experience.
