This is my first post here :) Hopefully hasn't already been answered but tried flicking through the rule book with little success so here goes:

Basically, I am wondering if all points for regional qualification need to be from horse and rider as a combination.

I presume the answer is yes but thought I might as well check. We are new to BD as failed eventers :o and are working mostly at elementary (PC opens etc), & have decided to aim for Novice winter regionals and elementary area festivals and eventually move up to medium if all goes to plan! Currently horse has 6 novice points from 2012 (previous owner) and 4 nov points (not from a qualifier class) from our first BD the other day.
So I imagine I'll still need to get another 15 points to make up the 19 total (with the necessary amount from qualifiers obviously) for novice silver.
Is this correct, or do we only need to get 9 points as he has a total of 10 novice points on his record..
Hopefully you knowledgable people can help :)
Thanks in advance!

You have to earn the points within the 6 month qualification period related to the regional you are qualifying for. So if you want to qualify for the winters you need them from the classes that have a W or WQ after them. No points from previous time periods will count even if you were riding the horse. Depending on the level you can also only count the points when you reach a certain score (usually 64/65%). So if you got 2x62%=4 points then you can't use that towards regional qualification, but if you scores 66%=4 points then you can within the qualification period.

Hope that helps.

Thanks thats really helpful, and what I assumed (although I just couldn't find it on the website!). We have only done 1 nov and scored 67% but it wasn't within the qualifying six month period because it was pre june 20th I now realise, so we will start our campaign now :)
