Started off yesterday with me skinning my knuckes whilst loading the horse box. That horse box has caused me more injuries
mad.gif

Gin was all plaited up and ready to go off to do her warm up test and my friend hadnt arrived. I txt her to see if she would be long and got the reply ' I thought it was tomorrow'
mad.gif
I had been telling her for months when it was. I asked her if she could quickly get her stuff together and get over to mine and I would have to set off late, to which I got 'Im having a lesson later' I was very annoyed as I now had no one to go with and didnt want to stay on my own. I started to panic and rung my mum who said she would ask my grandad if he would follow me up and bring me home when I had finished. He said he would but had to have his breakfast and get ready first. At this point I was in floods of tears. By the time we got there I would of had 10 mins if that to work her in so I had a paddy and said I didnt want to do it and I would take Gin up later. So unpacked all my overnight gear.

I set off at around 2:30 on my own and Grandad set off a bit later and catch me up. I was panaking as he didnt know the way and never caught up but he arrived 5 mins after me. I found Gins stable then me and grandad went off for a coffee. I then took Gin in the indoor school and she was fantastic, really working and engaged. We then went outside so I could let her watch the prize giving from the prelim (and watch Little_Mare, think Sparklet was in there too) Gin wasnt too keen on this and got very excited, she passaged back across the arena
grin.gif

Put Gin to bed for the night and met a friend of mine from years back. If Id of known she was there I would have stayed but I'd already unpacked all my stuff.

This morning plan was to set off at 6 to be there for 7. Parents took ages and didnt set off till 6:15, then dad took the scenic route
smirk.gif
Got there at 7:30 just after the arena walk
smirk.gif
, fed and plaited up. The outdoor was really busy so took her back into the indoor. My instructor arrived worked us in and again Gin was fantastic. Went down to do our test got in the arena and it all went to pot. Her head went up looking at everything around the arena and the judge at E was so scary and just shouldnt of been there.
crazy.gif

The whole test was basically out of control with Gin trying to tank off at every opportunity
frown.gif

I was so disappointed as she is capable of a fantastic test but the atmosphere just got to her. We got 57.7% and came last. Ive been doing the whole 'if only I had done this or that' but its done now.

Dad couldnt work the camera
smirk.gif
so no pics im afraid, only the proffessinal ones. At least I learnt 2 things from this experience
1. Dont sit out in the sun or you WILL get burnt
2. Trying to climb into the horse box G.I Jane style WILL injure you
grin.gif

Big well done to Little_Mare and Sparklet who were in the prelim and ......

Sparlet, were you late for your prize giving?

eek sorry to hear your prep for it went a bit haywire, but well done for getting there in the first place!

All experience under your belt and now you've done one you'll be prepared for the next one.

Big hug and well done from me. Hope the professional photo's are nice.

I know how you feel about friends and familly accidently upsetting your plans, tends to be why I go alone now.
grin.gif

Thanks, I was chatting to a few people who said they were there last year for the first time. Their horses were naughty so it was nice to hear I wasnt alone
grin.gif

This isnt the first time said person has let me down, it seems to be a habit of hers
mad.gif

Sorry to hear your report. Sounds like you were understandably stressed beforehand and then your horse stressed too....
frown.gif

I guess it's all a learning experience for your horse. Not a wasted day, but one that highlighted that she may take a few outings before she settles at spooky venues. I know it's very disappointing but try to think how you can use this experience to plan for the future????
We all have bad days don't we??
laugh.gif

Oh dear - mark it down to experience, dust yourself off and aim for the AFs. I know exactly how you feel, I think we've all been there at one time or another.

Bad luck. Just put it down to experience, after all everyone knows you were good enough to qualify in the first place or you wouldnt be there! We all have our off days. I expect mine will be on monday at Kingston Maurward Regionals!!

She's been to that venue a few times this year and has been fantastic. There were lots of new things there that werent there last time. Gin thinks they shouldnt be there. If it was just like a normal day up there she would have been placed.
smirk.gif

never mind.

Sorry to hear about that, you have a wonderful attitude to it all though! Good luck with the AF's I may be joining you!

Yeah I love wasting that amount of money

You've got to laugh though.

Good luck with the regionals and AF's, hope it goes better than mine

All the best horses are a tad temperaMENTAL
grin.gif

Sorry you had a rotten time but I didn't understand about AF's. I thought if you did regionals you couldn't do AF's at the same level, but maybe you are doing the next level up.
Anyway sorry people let you down

Oh big pants... at least after everything you went ahead and did it.
smile.gif
All good experience though, you made it to the regionals which is great. Onwards and upwards and at least you have AF to do...horses can be very frustrating sometimes!! Just when you think you have then right they decide to have a play around...grrhh!! Good luck for AF and report back..
smile.gif
.

Oh bu**er!

It's bad enough if you don't do well but you've done your best, but it's SO frustrating when you KNOW that things could have gone SO much better.
frown.gif

I often feel like saying to the judge....'now, if you could just watch this video of the test at home and mark that........'!
blush.gif
smile.gif

Better luck at the AF.

I usually feel like saying to the judge "you try riding it"
grin.gif

Gin has never been an easy ride but this year I really thought we were getting somewhere. I just hope the bad experience doesnt take us back a few steps.

What you have to do to keep your grooms is
1. Feed them plenty
2. Keep them buisy
3. Praise them often
4. Do their washing
Obviously this is for male grooms only!!!

Well thats what I do with my hubby... then again if he has a full stomach he is happy!tehe!!!!

oh god sounds like you had fun - horses do like to do that to us at the most important times dont they !! im sure if it had been a normal day you would of been fine !!!

Well done for carrying on and keep going though you have a great attitude which is what counts with these things X

I think I might start going on my own if my normal groom cant make it.
tongue.gif
much less stressful.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not sure if I'm your 'normal groom' some would say I was definately 'abnormal'! Really sorry I couldn't be there but work has been a b*gger recently and Tuesday was just a non starter

Really sorry that it didn't go to plan, but onwards and upwards - the dressage world awaits your domination!

I dont know about that
crazy.gif
At least you believe me when I say she can do a nice test.
grin.gif

I'm going to email you my next dates to see if you want to come.

Sorry to hear it all went a bit wrong, such a shame. But its all good practice, and now youve got the Winter Regionals to aim for
smile.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Thats now my plan. I might try to qualify for novice open and elementary, that way the novice can be my warm up.
smile.gif

Well done to you and Archie.
