Took Gin to do 2 elementaries hoping we could get a few decent scores.
Went to warm up and this stupid woman kept running into me. Now Gin isnt a big fan of horses coming close to her but she is so much better. I was walking on the inside track and was nearly at the short side when stupid woman turned to go across the diagonal and ran straight into the side of me. After 2 choice words from me the woman soon left. Then stupid woman no 2 had her turn. I was walking up the centre line in shoulder-in whe SW no 2 turned down the centre line in trot and kept coming towards me head on. Another few choice words and off I went to do my first test.
Gin took a dislike to the judges hut and was wanting to hollow in the canter. It wasnt a fantastic test and we came out with 60% and 3rd place.
Went back into the warm up and SW no 2 was in there. She came straight for me again and didnt stop, Gin put her head up and spun round to get out of the way. SW said 'im sorry I didnt realise she would do that' What did she think she was going to do?

I completly lost my temper

and I think I embarrassed my groom.

Went to do my 2nd test and Gin was pooped. She had no energy apart from when she spooked at the judges box and scared the judge to death
grin.gif
It felt like a better test but just needed more umph. We came out 2nd with 59.7%.

I really dont know what the judge was looking for. I thought I did a better test than the woman before me but the marks didnt reflect that. I came away a bit disheartened wondering why I bother.

We all have bad days and that one is over.Get your instructor to give an opinion .It is hard at that level everyone in there were probably pretty good so don't be down ,it will be hard to get high marks at that level.

What is is about stupid people in practice arenas this weekend, we had millions in the SJ warmup at event on Saturday. Far too many people queuing for the 2 practice jumps, arguing over heights and who was first to go (and therefore had priority). My OH got so fed up he decided just to go on onto the ring - luckily he jumped a fab clear.

I remember you posting in the past about your mare being frightened in the practice arena. Hope this hasn't set her confidence back, and next time you go out the same 2 idiots aren't there.

How can you be disappointed with coming 2nd and 3rd? I would have been thrilled. Well done!!

I didnt tell you how many were in the class
grin.gif
There were 4 in the first class and 5 in the second. Its the marks I am dissapointed with. I thought your marks were meant to go up, not down
smirk.gif

Thanks, Im probably just expecting too much. We started out with a win in her first couple of tests, then went down to 2nd, then 3rd! I get frustrated as I know she can do it but our marks seem to be getting lower.
My instructor thinks she has improved so much and yesterday she was on springs. I guess it just wasnt our day.

Its the fact that they dont look that annoys me. I seem to spend half my time watching other people trying to predict where they're going
mad.gif

She is sooo much better in the warm up now, there are a few horses that must give off a bad vibe but she's now able to concentate on me. She doesnt like animal cruelty, if someone hits their horse or rides rough she tends to avoid them.

Hard luck dressage is so frustrating trying to work out what the judges want. I am sure it will go better next time.

Hope so as its the area festival

Firstly well done on the placings but hard luck on the marks. I sympathise with you when you come out of a test and think it was better than the mark you got.

I hate warming up at shows for that same reason as you, hopefully you will have more luck at Area festival

I knew they werent great tests but I thought some of the marks were a bit harsh. Gin got a 4 for her medium trot, she's never had a 4 for her medium

Im hoping the judge will be nice to me at the AF
grin.gif

I agree that sometimes I just don't know what the judge is looking for
frown.gif

You did well though. It sounds as though the judge was a harsh marker.

Are you doing Elementary at the AF? I have a competition on Saturday as a mini warm up for the AF but if she completely bombs my confidence for the AF will be shot
blush.gif
I am already nervous as hell about going over to Richmond as don't know the venue at all
frown.gif

It can be very frustrating in a warm-up arena I know that!!! There are plenty of people who just do not adhere to the rules etc...I said to one woman quite politely ... oh sorry, left to left... with which she said I was getting out of your way.. and went right!! AHHH!!! Normally you can sus out who is going to be a "pain" as such and keep clear of them!!!
grin.gif
As much as possible anyways!! Well done for today and do not get dispondent....we all have our uppers and downers and dressage can be very frustrating!!!!

Yes I am doing the elementary AF.
Ive never been before either so I expect you to report back.
grin.gif
I havent even looked at how to get there.
crazy.gif
Im sure you'll be fine, just enjoy it.
smile.gif

A lot of the marks were low today. I rode the test that I will be riding at the AF. The mark I got didnt fill me with confidence for the AF.

No, I haven't looked at how to get there either

It is going to be a vey long day for Grace and I, as it is more than 2 hours drive away I think looking at the RAC thing. I hope my times are not too early, I am sending my forms in tomorrow morning so will request a later time. I'll PM you all about it when I have been
smile.gif

Why didnt I think to ask for later times
smirk.gif
I think the elementaries are the first on and it will take me about 2 hours too.

A full report will be nice and pics would be fab too, especially if they are of the test arena
wink.gif

No problem
wink.gif

Hubby is going to video the tests as for once he will not be reading them out to me, although I am thinking of having a practise run this weekend as I think I have become a little reliant on him reading for me
blush.gif

I have P17 and N33 this weekend, so they are unfortunately not the ones I have at the AF, that would have been ideal

I so know how you feel, my marks keep going down too but hey ho, onwards and upwards and WELL DONE for your placings!

Yes but looking at the scores today they all seem to be low at the moment, mine are just at the lower end of low though
crazy.gif
(I got 56% for E41 and 57% for E50 so know exactly where you are coming from)

Sorry you had a bad day, one of my gripes is people who cant warm up safely and with consideration!
Shame about the scores, but I guess its hard to produce a world beating test when you cant warm up without getting taken out!!!

Better luck next time hun!

I wouldnt worry too much about the marks - you get days like that, put it all down to experience and focus on your next competition. I sit at home after ive been competing and read through my sheets really carefully so i know what ive dropped marks on and what needs to be improved on for next time.

Hmmm, its annoying
frown.gif
Don't worry too much about your marks, they must've been low across the board given your placings... Forget this now and focus on your AF!

World beating
crazy.gif
that only happens in my dreams
grin.gif

Are you going to any of the area festivals?
Im really starting to dislike that venue. The judging always seems harsh and they were only giving rossettes to 1st and 2nd
mad.gif
. That and everyone who goes there seems to be blind.
