Hi everyone, firstly just wanted to thank everyone who text me today - was really nice of you
smile.gif

Il start with a brief run down of our BD outing on Saturday at Crofton. Did N22 and he was a little star and we won the class with 67.98% so was chuffed to bits with him
grin.gif
Had two 'naughty' moments, but apart from that i was really pleased with him. Spoke to the judge (who was lovely) for ages afterwards and she was really nice about him which made me feel better about today!

Sunday and Monday were spent hacking and pessoa-ing and he was a little angel again - altho the horse-eating pheasents nearly got him out hacking

Had a nice early start today, up at 5am. Got to the yard and polished him and plaited up then gave him his breakfast whilst i mucked out. Left yard at 745am and we were making good time until we hit an accident on the A4421 which was great
crazy.gif
Luckily the tailback wasnt too long, so thankfully we got on our way again quickly enough.

Arrived at Addington at 10:30, which im sure is lovely when its not p*ssing down with rain
crazy.gif
Signed in and watched a bit of what was going on at the time. Bumped into someone i knew who'd been riding earlier so she filled me in on all that they had done etc which was nice.

(For those of you who dont know, in my group was:
Charlie Hutton
Hannah Esberger-Shepherd
Peter Storr
Dan Greenwood
Matt Frost (he swapped with Jo Barry as she was in my group)
Roland Tong)

Tacked up the monster and mum led us over to the warmup (the indoor smaller arena). I did feel like a proper idiot being led, but i didnt fancy getting dumped in the mud in the carpark! Then Peter Storr turned up on a lunge line which made me feel much better
grin.gif

Wandered around in the warmup then saw Dan (Greenwood) and he came and spoke to me and walked round with me - so i felt quite important

Ive only ever had one lesson with him, so it was nice of him to take the time to talk to me. His horse was only just 4 and he only bought it 2 weeks ago and it had never been anywhere
crazy.gif

Archie had obviously been polishing his halo overnight as there were no devil horns insight today, and he even gave Dans horse a lead into the main arena
smirk.gif
Main arena was really quite hectic, people getting in and out of the stands, a huge judges table down the bottom end, the cafeteria at the other end, flags and banners - but he was really good.

However i really might aswell not have bothered being there - as fantastic as he felt (and he really did go well) - i dont think the judges looked at me once, not even when i came in the arena
crazy.gif
it was very obvious they already knew who they were going to choose and i think even if id stripped naked and run around the arena screaming they wouldve taken no notice

Lukily it wasnt just me they ignored, Charlie, Roland and Peter got ignored too. I thought Charlie's horse was gorgeous, really nicely ridden too and was doing some fantastic work, but they just looked through him like he wasnt there
crazy.gif

The horses called forwards for vetting were Matts, Hannahs and Dans - they all got ridden aswell. Emile rode Hannahs and Dans and Carl rode Matt's.

Either way tho, i did have a fantastic day and i cant believe i got to ride around with all those big names! Archie was fab and i couldnt have asked him to go any better than he did
grin.gif
I also cant get over what an brilliant experience it was, i really did enjoy it all and cant believe i even got the chance to do in the first place!

We have to wait 2 weeks before they write and let you know whos been selected, im 100% i wont have been tho. I knew i wouldnt have been anyways, but it wouldve been nice if they had looked slightly interested in me and the other ones they ignored!!

Archie is off to spend a week with Andrew next week to learn 'proper' stuff like changes and half pass
smirk.gif
so we'll see how he copes!!

Video will be up tomoro hopefully, i will try and upload a bit tonight
smile.gif

Brilliant report! What a fantastic experience. May I ask - what did you have to do when you went before the judges?
V. bad form to give the impression that they had already made up their minds, but what the hell. Fantastic achievement just getting there. Hope he enjoys himself at AG's.

I think you need a Team Archie now!!!

Well it sounds like a great day to me, and he behaved very well, which was good of him. You have nothing to be ashamed of, it sounds like he acquited himself just as well as the others there, so you should be very proud to have done it all yourself whilst working full-time, correct me if I'm wrong but all those others are very much professionals?!

We all did our own thing so i did:

simple changes
canter/halt/canter
loads of transitions up and down the paces
transitions with in the pace
shoulder in
leg yeild (in trot and canter)
passage (half steps)
1/4 canter pirouettes

Some of the others were doing changes and half pass but we were told to work according to their ability and age. And in fact the two doing changes and halfpass didnt get called forwards anyways.

Everyone in my group was a professional! Apart from Charlie Hutton, and i class him as one as hes represented GB in YRs
grin.gif
And obviously his mum is Pammy Hutton!

Didnt see many other horses as the lunch break was from 1 - 2 and we left at 1:30 as we were knackered!

I know Karen Shepherds horse Remy (Rivaldo) got vetted - I spoke to her when i arrived, hers was the only horse who got vetted in her group and non got ridden. (i bought Archie from her, thats how i know her).

What a fantastic experience, I'd have loved to come and watch. Well done. Shame the weather was so foul but I'm pleased Archie had his halo on for you!
grin.gif

Hey PG, what a great day you had. It's always so insulting when you get ignored but the very fact that you were invited there must have given you a real buzz and confidence boost. I'm pleased you had a good day.
grin.gif

Im pleased the halo was out too, he was actually better behaved than Peter Storrs horse who was quite highly strung to say the least
blush.gif
(im not surprised he got led in on a lunge line!!)

oh sounds like you had a great day like me (ill right my report tomorrow) ive never been so wet in my life !!!!

so glad he was good and had his halo on - well done x x

Really well done on both the comp and selection
laugh.gif

The selection must have been a fantastic experience for both you and Archie especially as he behaved himself! It is a shame that the judges seemed to have already decided but I suppose its understandable that the they'll have their eye out for certain horses and that they can almost immediately spot what they're looking for, especially since they're supposedly tightening the net this year... To be in the same boat as Hutton, Tong and Storr its not a bad boat to be in...

I am so very , very pleased for you!! Sounds like Archie couldn't have behaved better if he'd tried and you've both come away having had such a fantastic and positive experience
smile.gif
Shame the judges weren't that interested - maybe some very, very small devil horns would have come in useful as they wouldn't be able to doubt his athletitism (sp).

Can't wait to see vid!! I'm sure he'll enjoy his stay at Andrews too - you have no excuse whatsoever for not getting hundreds of pics while he's there as you are not riding him!!

Huge congratulations for getting this far and coming away from it without dog food threats

Hey, very well done for getting there!!
I also know nothing about BD dressage and the way it works, but it all sounds serriously smart to even be picked to ride with that lot!!!

One question, i used to know Roland Tong quite well (years and years and years ago) and only worked out that it was the same guy pictured on the Brightwel's cat. cover??? a couple of days ago.. so i take it he's doing pretty well in proper dressage now??

I have sooooo been waiting for this report
grin.gif
What an experience, one which most wannabee divas would die for. Sounds as if it was cut and dried beforehand, but hun, you now have your name on the map

Ack I TOTALLY forgot that was today!!
Brill about the BD-ing, well done! And even if you're sure you haven't even had a proper look-in at the selections (how rude!), like you say at least you had a good day, Archie was a good boy and you both had a really good experience. You still sound totally chuffed to have been there at all so you've definately taken a positive experience with you from it! I'm so pleased monster was good!
laugh.gif

WOW
thought of you and archie all day, what a brilliant report and what company

Can we NOW say we know 'a name'

Ace reporting PG!
grin.gif

Well done on your class win and sounds as if you had an amazing time yesterday.

Considering how much it costs in time and effort to get the horses there, the judges could have at least shown some interest in everybody.......very rude.
frown.gif

Well done..............

I agree with Bananaman, it's not cheap getting horses out the these places... But glad you enjoyed the expericence and that Archie was a good boy....

Wow great score for the novice test especially if he did have two naughty moments. Shame about addington but one step at a time I guess, what an ahievement to even get there!! Sounds like your boys halo seems to be holding out more often than not recently which is great news.

Go Archie Go!
Don't worry about Addington. When your at GP that's when you can turnaround and smile serenely knowing you were right all along
wink.gif

Hiya PG
grin.gif

YAY have directed myself directly to the CompR's to read this report. What a fantastic day you have had and how much progress you have made. A big pat for Archie and a well done to the rider
