My trainer rode dee in a BD show held at the yard today. My leg has been playing up so for now i am out of the saddle. Delicia has started to come on, she has a long way to go in terms of self carriage and accepting the bridle more but we are starting to get there.

It was blooming freezing today and very windy (was wondering why we were bothering :p) however there were some lovely horses there today (met tegan who was lovely and fell inlove with her cob :) )

Dee warmed up well and went in the first test, elementary 45. We had a few moments, she is becoming a little bit more settled in her canter work but still a long way to go.

I was pleased with her but she still got a bit too strong toward the end and sebsequaintly got tense. This reflected (quite rightly) in her marks, we won the class but got 60%, the judge mentioning her obvious talent but that her tension let her down at times.

The second class was for schooling purposes really, elementary 59 is a rather long and horrid test and two lots of half ten metre circles with simple changes (not good movements for a hot horse), and although she did the movements, she broke out of canter to do her big trot instead or went too deep at times in her head (despite the fact emma was pretty much throwing the reins at her) and although we came second i felt she let herself down a tad (the horse not the trainer)!

So overall, in this horrid weather was a success (met fellow HHO'ers *waves hello*), it definetly highlighted the work that although is getting better still has a way to go. But i already knew this. :)

Was nice that it highlighted to me that it wasnt my leg that causes it as dee threw the same dummy at an able bodied rider.

I am so pleased for you both, I really like your Dee she is Gawjus. It is so good when after all the hard work things at last start to slowly fall into place, this is one of my goals for this year not to your level but we are hoping to take Ebony to some RDA events for walk and trot tests. I hope that you will be able to be back in the saddle soon. Hope all continues to go well for you both. :)

You are more of an inspiration than I. :) the best of luck to you.

how did you do in the second test? (marks i mean)

i actually really like E59, its shows if the horse is straight from hand to leg and on the aids as those canters on the diagonal and the canter/trot/canter really highlight crookedness or anticipation.

its a good test to show if you're ready to move up a level IMO.

horses adapt amazingly well to disabilities, and get very clever at fathoming out what it is the rider wants even if the aids are uncoventional-i suffer from a problem with the nerves in the left side of my body and often cannot feel my left seatbone let alone sit down on it, but CS knows when i am crooked *normal* and when i am just plain crooked, he knows what is me, and has learnt to travel straight under that regardless. he isnt allowed to take advantage of this.

when i look at people riding with their snaffle rein in their teeth and their curb rein on their feet etc, i think i have no damn excuses and i should just get on with it, and get better ;)

58% in the second one. Dee is not established at ele yet so not looking to go higher/qualify at the moment.

Oh i am not complianing, there is always someone worse off :)
