Well i finally have something to report about with Archie - at long last! After a pretty horrific hack out on friday night, which resulted in me telling him he was going for 'the can' - he obviously listened to me as he was a little angel on Saturday!
Went to KM just to do one test, the dreaded N22! Ive been determined to crack this test with him in the outdoor at KM for a long time now - and we've finally done it! Our last attempt (as Stilton will vouch for) was interesting to say the lest - we completed the test but it did involve part of it on 2 legs, a HUGE buck and him p*ssing off with me in the medium canter and nearly taking the fence at the end of the arena
So this time i had a 10min warmup - suits him best otherwise he gets tired and overbent and stresses himself out. He warmed up really nicely and was really listening to me, despite the gales and a few hair raising moments by other competitors.
Did our test, which i was really pleased with - so i hoped that i had achieved my aim of getting over 60% with him. Got my mark and i we got 66.90%
Now i know thats not anything particularly impressive, however when you've been through what ive been through with him i really felt like crying i was so pleased!
We had a few baby mistakes such as a large spook at 'A' when the imaginary 'white board monster' tried to eat him
Had quartersin in our first medium canter so dropped marks there, first free walk was rubbish with not enough ground coverage, he had a 'moment' when he decided he didnt want to trot after the counter canter and we cantered on the spot until he decided he did understand what i wanted him to do! And our final halt was a litle crooked. Apart from that he got 7s for his medium trot which im chuffed to bits with as ive been working really hard on it, AND the best bit is he didnt go overbent AT ALL
Theres no piccies (sorry), i do have a video of my test but damn photobucket wont upload it for some reason
Thanx for reading and i hope everyone else had a good weekend x
ETA - forgot to say that we came 5th overall out of 30 and my open section was pretty tough, consisting of Jacky Stolper, Jodie Lister, Garry Caddy, David Owen to name a few!
