Set off up north to ride 2 elementaries. I was quite excited as Gin has been going so well recently and is feeling the best she ever has.
I didnt want to wear her out so only did 20 mins warm up. The warm up got really busy which Gin hates and just before we were about to go in someone cantered into us as I was in medium trot.

Que a very tense Gin. She just couldnt concentrate in the test and was looking over the hedge. We got 58% and 6th place which I thought was fair.

Went in to do second test and Gin did a super test. She was soft over her back and did some super medium work. I was so disappointed when we got 60% and 6th place. I thought it deserved more than that and so did my 'grooms'. Got the sheet back which said she didnt show enough medium.

I have had that judge before and im sure she just doesnt like Gin

The annoying thing is the memory on my camera was full so I only got about 15 seconds of the test.

So were off to frys next week to see what the judges say there.

What a shame, theres nothing worse than for the tests not to be so great when they've been going wonderfully at home! At least, you can be comforted by the knowledge that your second test was harshly judged!

I just wish id got all off the test on video to see if it really was that bad.

That is the trouble with dressage the judge doesn't always see what we feel and its just someones opinion. Next time the judge might be ok and both test might be great.Onward and upward

Its a shame you cant find out who the judge is before sending off your entry

I would of saved a lot of money.

Where did you compete?

Once I have my box I am hoping to do some more competitions at Manor Grange ad REC...

We were at REC. I love the venue and the surfaces are really nice but we just cant cope with a busy warm up. Manor Grange is quite close to me. I went last year but the warm up was so busy and I havent been since. I might start going again though. I have thought about coming out your way to see if we get the same marks, if we do then its us thats crap.

Looks like we might be meeting up soon then.

Im hoping that Clive Halsall is judging next weekend, he seems to like Gin.

We need a confidence boost.

Im there on saturday as theres only 1 elementary on sunday. I would have preffered to go sunday too.

Just looked back through my tests and Ive got the same comments everytime she has judged me. For all my medium work it says 'could show more'. Apparently she likes horses really up in front and tight.

You know you are going to have to take a trip up London don't you!!!!!! Dont dispair, keep up the good work and hopefully a Judge will see and mark accordingly to what you feel. Ps... London venues are not that far away!!!!!! May give you a boost!!!!!
