Well after my recent comps where ive come away feeling down I actually feel quite pleased.

Went inside to warm up as it was drizzling outside and didnt want to get wet. Walked Gin round and then in came a woman who kept smacking her horse with the whip. All we could hear was crack, crack, crack and Gin being against animal cruelty got very upset.

So off we trundled outside. Gin was a bit spooky but managed to work in quite well, just not off my leg enough.
Went in to do my test and Gin was a bit looky and not off my leg. Wasnt expecting a good mark as the test just didnt feel flowing and the canter felt laboured. The judge is also known to be quite tough. We ended up on 62.07% which I though was a fair score and 3rd. The top 2 in the restricted section were also on 62+% so less than 1% seperated the top 3.

Warmed up for my second test and made her go forward off my leg by making her medium down the long sides and loads of lateral work to get her bending. Went in to do my test, the heavens opened and the wind blew but Gin felt great. I relaxed my shoulders down and the trot felt springy, the canter was a bit unbalanced at times and not quite forward enough. We ended up with 62.35 which I thought was quite low for what she felt like. We came 2nd. We got 2 8's, one for our medium trot and then a 3 because some numpty forgot her trot walk trot transition

. Both judges gave nice comments which I was pleased with.

It was the first time Ive been competing on my own and I really enjoyed it. Gin was a star. And following my previous post, I managed to relax my shoulders more and felt so much more comfortable. I cant comment on the head nodding though as I was too busy concentrating to notice and the video man wasnt there.

Well done! Glad your feeling more positive. Congrats on the medium trot work - must have been very good to get 8's!

Normally I take my mum competing with me, but recently I have started going on my own because more of the events seem to be on week days. It is really nice to be totally independent - just takes a bit more planning!

If someone had said to me a year ago I had to go on my own, I would have thrown a complete paddy and said I couldnt do it. I actually quite enjoyed spending the time with Gin. I bought some Malteasers and off we went.

Two 1sts (66.something and 68.something) - so very pleased!

And that was despite getting mown out of the warm-up in between tests by some moron (literally - two feet stumbled out of the arena and another smacked the boards) AND I was passing left to left AND I'd just finished shoulder-in at the end of a long side (so she had 40m to see me) AND she's a group 3 AND she didn't even acknowledge or say sorry

Luckily we beat her in both classes

Well done

You're getting some great scores. Just been peeking at your pictures from the area festivals. You both look great.

I hate warming up. I try to do as little as possible and I love beating those who pee me off

Are you going to Aldham Mill in 2 weeks? I need to send my entry off tomorrow.

Urgh, don't look at those it was awful - we had about 20mins too much warm-up (they were running late) and a saddle-slipping crisis mid test! But never mind it was good enough!

I'm not sure what we're doing next, I need to sort myself out!
