I know that if I have qualified for area festival at novice and subsequently move up to elementary I can still take part in the festival at novice but would it mean I will ahve to go open or can I stay restricted as that was how I qualified? Also I am part qualified for regionals but unsure if I will go anyway, but will the same apply for that too?
Thanks
Clare

Yes, you can still do the Novice Rest. even if you upgrade your rider status, or your horse.

However, if you qualify and want to do the Elementary Rest AF, you will then have to do the Open section of the Novice as you can't do two Rest levels.

If you finish your regional qualification at Novice, you could do that Rest. then do the AF rest.

Hope that hasn't muddled you further!

I believe you cant compete at both Area Festival and Regionals at the same level - someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I have qualified for the regionals at prelim but intend to do the AF at novice level too

Thanks was just worried I would end up having to go open if I upgraded to elem as I only have a few points left. I know I can't do both regionals and area festival at the same level. If I qualify and decide to do regionals I might do area festival at elem both restricted that would be ok wouldn't it?
Thought I had better just check, I stand little chance doing restricted at regionals and absolutely no chance doing open!

Sorry I am being really thick here I thought I understood but now I am confused. Are you saying if I do AF elem restr then I can do the novice too but at open. What if I upgrade to elemtary but only do the AF for novice can I still do that restr then>
Thanks for your patuence sorry for being a bit slow on the uptake!

if you up grade to elementary but only do the novice AF then you ride it at restricted level - the level at which you qualified.

But if you did the elementary AF you would have to ride the Novice AF at open level as you cant ride two AFs at restricted level.
