Anyone else weather watching?
I'm taking my friend through on the Sunday but the weather looks like it is going to be horrendous.
Not sure if I want to risk injury or accident by going? :(

I expect they will likely cancel/ reschedule. They are forecasting potentially hurricane force winds. It won't be safe for anyone to be out and about - even without a horse, let alone driving high sided vehicles. That is unless it ends up not being as bad as expected.

Winter regionals are so difficult aren't they. Was it last year where the Addington one was so affected by snow? they still went ahead.

i would guess the hesitation over cancelling where there's still a chance of running is because it's so difficult to reschedule - not just finding a slot in the calendar but they need 3x the number of judges and writers too. Of course that is moot if the judges can't get there in the first place ;)

I keep checking their FB page but I don't think they'll reschedule Sunday. I consider myself a confident and experienced driver but it is extremely difficult to predict the severity of wind gusts on exposed sections of roads/motorways/bridges. We can't go down the day before and stay as my friend is working. I'm gutted for her. We will make our decision on Sunday morning.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the Scottish Winter Regional Championship this weekend.

Several of the committee will be around at various points over the weekend and will be very happy to chat on any matters you want to raise.

As you will know the weather forecast is for very high winds. Morris Equestrian Centre have already offered the option to extend your stabling requirements and this can be booked directly with them. If you are unsure about travelling please :-

* check Www.trafficscotland.org (bridge restrictions and reduced speed limits on exposed carriageways may be in place)
* Call a friend you know to be at the venue to check on actual conditions
* Allow plenty of time for travel and for your horse to catch his breath when you arrive (they have to work extra hard to balance themselves when the wind buffets their transport)
* Bring extra forage and rugs for your horse in case you want to defer your journey home to a time when conditions are a little better
Good luck to all competitors ☘️☘️☘️

Poo! What a shame, I'm hoping generally it won't be as bad as they are forecasting but if it is it's not worth risking imo - the horse won't be at his best if he gets (despite your best efforts) a wild ride there either

I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for her, she has taken Sunday off as a holiday so she could go. It will be such a shame as they are a fantastic wee team and it's her first Regional. We will make our minds up on Sunday morning and if it's too risky, she will phone the venue and withdraw.
