BD Young Riders/ Under 21's clarification please!?!

Just found out that byrds and U21's are two seperate things?

Can anyone clarify what the difference between the two are and the befefits of joining one over the other?

Also, does anyone know a simple way of becoming part of it, as everyone who we ask seems to be very confused!

We have a talented 12y/o with an excellent fei pony, and someone over 21 interested in becoming involved in teams.

HELP PLEASE!
 
Just a very quickie as I'm just grabbing a coffee before flying out of the door to try and catch an old baggage that is supposed to be going to a show by 9am and who took it into her head NOT to come in yesterday despite all my efforts.

I wouldn't have minded so very much had she not have been freshly clipped and the weather last night was awful.

Anyway, to answer..........BYRDS is part of BD, is now open to U25 and you'll find your area rep in the mag or on the website.
The U21s is run by Carol Hogg and is not part of BD. Lots of people do both.

embee, give andrea sexton a shout - she used to be the glos rep for the U21s (think it's now hayley WG now that andrea is busy with babies!) but I'm sure she will be able to tell you all there is to know about it.

BYRDs is now open to U25s & is run through BD - lot's of info on the website about events etc.
 
If you have an FEI pony then you want to do affiliated so need to join BD BYRDS/Under21s they are the same thing, they run regional training and camps, inter regional competition and a home international, you can also enter the pony tests at premier league shows without belonging to or doing any regional stuff but pony has to be medium level to do these tests.

You have just missed the pony viewing day when the selectors look at all ponies that come forward and select any that look good enought to make the team and then give them some training through the winter.

ALthough BD run there young riders up to 25 the only teams available to these are regional stuff as Internaional stuff stops at 21.

There is an organisation called Under 21's UK, this is unaffiliated and nothing to do with BD but good fun and a good start for young people to get their confidence, google under21s uk and you will find their website.
 
In Gloucestershire, Carol Hogg's mob would be a good bet, as they do a lot at Unicorn. Also join BYRDS and do regional stuff through them, training through DressageU21s very good IMHO
 
As has been said, Dressage Under 21s UK is seperate to Brish Dressage and is organised by Carol Hogg. BYRDS is organised by Regional Reps under British Dressage.

Both training is very good but the road to team places to ride for your Country is through BYRDS. Contact you RDO who will then give you information on the Regions BYRDS training.
