Hello, this may sound really silly but how do you know who the trainers are at a BE80T? I'm doing my first one at Ascott-Under-Whychwood next weekend, hopefully it will go smoothly and I wont need any last minute help from the trainers, but if I do, how do I recognise them and engage their help?

Is there one in each warmup?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

They'll be wearing bibs to identify themselves. If you turn up at the publicised time for the course walks, they'll gather everybody who's looking a bit lost around them. When I did a couple of 80s they were in the SJ and XC warmups but not the dressage. At my first 80, luckily one was an instructor who teaches at my club and knew me a bit so she spent a bit of time with me before the XC calming me down as I was a strange shade of green/grey! Riding wasn't a problem, breathing was!

The details and timings of trainer help are usually posted up in the secretaries tent. It will probably be Simon Laurence who is the trainer at this event but the name of the trainer will also be posted. It is a local event and was thought to have been lost when the previous owner retired and sold the farm.
