Okay, so my attempt at alliteration is pretty pathetic, but I have progress from my first BE event (where I got blacklisted
)
So booked a lesson with a BE accredited coach, around Toomer Farm xc course. Warmed up over a few small fences where Clare taught me some great techniques at how to get him going nicely before and after the fence without charging around like a bad ginger bomb!
So jumped a few jumps feeling pretty confident (maybe too confident!) Got to the top of the hill and thought "oh cr*p! I don't have enough power to get over the jump" Which happened to be a rather big and wide hedge with a large ditch *4ft wide* in front of it.
Pony puts all 4 feet into large ditch, does a rather spectacular flip, and lands on the other side on the hedge lying down next to me! Poor boy, totally my fault.
After a quick check over and trot up, he was fine and I hopped back on to do the sequence of jumps again, didn't ride like a muppet this time and my totally genuine dude of a pony jumped out of his skin to clear it! Bless his little cottons!
So finished the day over some more jumps and came away from it thinking how much I didn't know, which I don't know whether is a good thing or a bad thing?
So hoping to enter Pontispool BE90 so that I can show BE that I can do a nice calm round and give pony confidence again before I move back up to BE100.
Another thing that my instructor said, was that I should sell my thoroughbred and buy a warmblood as my legs are weak and they would really benefit from having a horse which is rather more stuffy than my usual forward going, no leg needed horses!
So, final point on this ridiculously long, pointless post. Does anyone know of, or where I can find a reasonally cheap warmblood (Less than £5000) to event!
Thank you and sorry for the pointlessness!
