Browsing round the BE website today I discovered it has a table or two giving the top 100 stallions/mares etc according to their progeny results.
Fascinating reading, our own stallion's sire came in at 35, one of his daughters 20 in the top mares in the country etc, and some of our other bloodlines are well placed too.
Go and have a look if you've never seen it, it makes interesting reading.

Fascinating - thanks Sue!

Amazing that in all my searches for info on Sportsnight, that has never come up! Really happy to have seen that - ta!

I had no idea they kept stuff like that, it was really interesting to see which stallion's were consistent. even better to find a Choc relative had done Badminton etc, from now on I will watch it's results.
I laughed yesterday, I was in a local tackshop buying a foal rug for William (only 4' 3" as he is still small after his illness compared to the other foals so none of last year's rugs fit him) and a lady there was demurring over which size to buy..
She settled on 5' and when she told me her horse was by the same sire as Hector I warned her it may grow very big... that stallion does throw big horses doesn't he?

It was a great find - don't care too much how accurate it is - it's nice to find out about relatives. Sousa is mentioned a fair few times too and he is KC's sire!

He can throw big - I was told by his owner when H was a few days old, that over 16.2hh by KC would be sought after, as not many grow to that size - this year she tells me that a fair few have topped 17hh!!! I guess, as with most sires, it depends on the mare - maybe as his book has improved, his mares have got bigger?? What did she say to that? For me it's a good thing

Unfortunately as not all horses with recorded breeding have had their pedigree's recorded till recently these lists are, although a good pointer, totally inaccurate!
