This happened yesterday just walking back along the lane, rider nearly hit the road on her back as she was 1 ft from landing and ended up on ponies neck, when pony scrabbled back up . Left a skid mark and two lines of fur from the knees about 2 ft long.

knees today are swollen and we all putting knee boots on today.

Sorry to hear that. I hope she gets better soon, it must have been quite a shock.

It is one reason why I put knee boots on, if they are hacking on roads. I know they can't protect against everything, but I think they can help.

Poor pony. Mine did the same in the summer. All looked much better very quickly for mine and they dried out nicely. However 10 days later one leg blew up enormously with an infection. I think in your position I would be calling my vet and having a discussion about a preventative shot of antibiotics, if you haven't already.

This I know, we cut short our hack yesterday due to TB slipping in the mud, with hindsight I should have left his cavellos off , hope your horse recovers soon

Me too have seen too many nasty injuries from slippery roads. I use the westropp combined knee and brushing boots as they aren't restrictive and don't flip up. You have nothing to lose by putting on a pair of knee boots but they can save a nasty injury and vets bill.

Exactly the same happen to me years ago but my boy was cut down to the bone - it took 6 months in 24/7 to heal. I've never ridden on the road without knee boots since.
