We have to take a car as well as our lorry tomorrow to Gatcombe [ my husband is coming back early to pick up Claire's daughter and put her to bed]
I notice on the website it says cars £5, did we get car passes this year as can't find one?
 
It's red if thats any help?!!

Ahh i need to follow friend in lorry to Turnberry this weekend and was on at her to see if she had a car pass. She will be like you Carthorse and will have it 'somewhere'.
I followed the lorry to Cumwhinton and the wanted £10 to park! told them to get on their bike and guy gave in eventually,bloomin joke as they had tonnes of room and I was right behind lorry who vouched for me so i wasnt just a random chancing their arm :@
 
Think a lot of people didn't actually get one this year!!!

When I phoned BE to say we hadn't got ours, they were unsurprised, and immediately sent me one!!!

I was charged £10 despite having my car pass stuck in my windscreen at Osberton and told it didn't count unless I had a special competitor's voucher.

Thought they were supposed to get you in at everything below 3* so was v miffed.

I thought it was 2* but hey ho, I know they charge at Burnham market and that is only CIC's even if you go on the day without international stuff!!
Usually if you have to pay you can go to the secretary's and get it back!! Or blag that you left it at home in the rush to get there as your grooming, worked for me at Weston last year lol
 
There is an article in this months Eventing mag re car passes, quite alot of people not happy with current system especially owners something else for BE to address!
 
OK so the official line is this:
Three day events running 2* and over (eg. Osberton), one day events running a CIC3* (Burnham Market, Chatsworth etc.) and Belton.

I spend a lot of time in my car reading the reverse of my car pass so I can do it by heart.
 
What you do is carry a horses passport in your car and wave it at the person on the gate moaning at the same time at how upset you are with rider who has forgotton to take it with them this morning and made you drove 80 miles just so they compete.


It works every time...

Well the 3 times I have had to legitmately drive halfway acorss the country because my stupid sister forgot hers
 
At Highclere this year they wanted to charge £10 per person in the car, despite me having a car pass. They wanted to see a BE membership card for all people before letting them in. If that's the bloody case, why issue the effing car pass??!

I am an owner and, TBH, feel that owners are the bottom feeders of the BE food chain. The amount we have to pay on livery, entry fees, transport, starting fees AND membership, you'd think they'd give us a friggin' break! At Blenheim I got VIP tickets for all four days, members passes, VIP parking etc for me +1. That's Blenheim! Highclere, which is nowhere near the prestige of either Blenheim nor, indeed, where they think it is, wanted to charge me and my partner to get in and watch our own horse compete. I know a lot of people complained that weekend - I went to the secretary and got my money back (with good grace, I might add - kudos to the people on the ground at the event).
 
Absolutely agree - our car pass never arrived and my husband needs to meet me at Allerton tomorrow and there is a big sign on the gate saying £10 a car.

We have paid a lot of money to enter our 2 horses (one of which he owns) - will be really cross if he gets charged.

Not brave enough to try the passport trick - just wondering if I can get a number out to him so he can claim to be a rider.
 
just to rub it in...i got sent a shiney red car pass this year and i'm not even a member!!! it came with my membership renewal forms!!!
