BE entry question (ballot stickers) advice please!

i am aming 4 me and buster 2 do r 1st novice at somerly at the end of march. i would like to do 2 PN runs 1st. there is tweseldown on the 6th, moreton on the 19th and somerley on the 25th. do you think this is 2 much? he is already very fit and getting fitter and his events last year didnt take much out of him!

and my 2nd question is were do i use my ballot sticker?

i wont 2 save my supers 4 later in the season and theres no way im doing somerly without at least 1 PN! which do you think will b most likley to ballot?

and my final question is if i dont think hes ready 4 the novice (going on the PN runs) and i have already entered somerly and cannot get money back etc would it be worth going just 4 the dressage and sj?

and advice would be greatly recieved!

I don't think 3 events on those dates should be too much. I don't know the area very well or events so cannot advise on what events most likely to ballot.

If you are close enough and don't feel ready for Novice Xc I would still go and do dressage and SJ.
 
I don't think it sounds too much as long as he is fit enough. I'm planning to do the same number of runs at that time as well.

I'd use your ballot sticker for Tweseldown. Moreton will be less likely to ballot.

It is definitely worth going to do the dressage and showjumping if you're not going to get your money back. Take the opportunity to practise those phases. Unless of course it is miles to travel in which case it might be a bit of a waste of time?!

Moreton balloted at their June event last year but normally they work on a first come first served basis i think, so if you get your entry in earlyish you should be ok with them.
I see you are in Dorset, where abouts are you?
 
I think Moreton were taking late entries for their March event last year weren't they? I'm sure thats the only reason I went there and travelled about 4 hours to do so!
 
Yes in march they were, i think because it is close to Aldon and also it is mid week whereas their june one is on a sunday.
 
I'd like to go back to Moreton coz it was a lovely event and had a successful outing there, but it's such a long way for us and a terrible journey so I think I'll be going elsewhere this time!

They only balloted the June event. Shame you wont be coming to the march one Mel, thought you would want to try and repeat last years success

Mine is Last of the Moet . Im only doing Intro, but thinking of moving up to Pre novice if im brave enough!!

He has done up to novice in the past but was over faced and started stopping. Then he just hunted and hacked for a couple of years, then i bought him! He is quite capable but somewhat quirky!

OMG i was in ur section at bovy intro in the spring!!! i remember hearing your horses name over the tannoy and the commentator is talking about you on the video i have of the day!!

I think that was a fluke anyway!

I want to go to Gatcombe which is the 21st March so can't do both and as Gatcombe has a novice and Moreton doesn't and it is only 20 minutes down the road, Gatcombe is winning at the moment!

What about offering to help at the event on the day you are not competing? That way you save your ballot stickers and still guarantee the runs. Doesnt sound too much, providing the ground is good.

Yes just ring the organiser and offer your help, or write on your entry form that you are willing to help. Only problem with Moreton is that they only run one day so difficult to help and compete!.
The other option is to provide a helper, e.g a dressage writer or someone like that.
