Same here, definately saves time on the day especially if you have a faffy/excited horse at the event. Make sure you take a selection of rugs (and jackets) with you because even if its a lovely sunny morning when you leave, it'll likely be peeing rain when you get there! Always take extra's of things in case something breaks, like I always keep a spare set of shoes (horse ones that is!), reins and stirrup leathers in my box. The other thing I MUST have is the dressage test and I keep it on my mother (aka groom!) so I can get her to whip it out when I'm warming up and have forgotten a part of the test (happens regularly with me).

Time-saving wise, I normally load my stuff into a box in the back of the car, but put stuff in the order you want to take it out (ie. dressage stuff first, then SJ etc.).

As I am the groom and driver, we have an absolutely strict routine, which we only vary is the timings. We do the same things, in the same order every time. Once we arrive at the event we do exactly the same things in the same order every time as well. I know it sounds a bit OCD like, but we really do need to know exactly where we are and what we are doing. I have to be honest and wonder how we are going to cope when she does a 1* next year, which is the aim, all being well, as its over 3 days and it will knock our routine out of kilter, but I am sure we will cope.

Another vote here for Supastuds travel studs. All done the night before and all you need to do is unscrew them and put in proper studs. Easy and less hard on our poor old backs with a mare that loves to lean on you with her back legs.

Yet another vote for black bin liners. Shove all dirty clothes, xc boots, saddle cloths in it when we leave and retrieve ready for the washing machine when we get home.

Keep a fully stocked box (we call ours 'The Event Box') full of things you need like lavender wash (adore that smell, reminds me of summer), icetight, grooming kit, fly spray, hoof oil, stud kit, etc, etc, etc. When you run out of something or lose a brush, hoof pick etc, replace it straight away. Always have a spare Point 2 air cannister in the 4 x 4 glove compartment as have used it twice this year, as not all tack shops sell them, and I have a 20 mile hike to the nearest one for us.

Keep your passport in the glove compartment of your 4 x 4 or lorry, along with your BE rule book, as Mini TX always learns her test on the drive there.

Make sure you keep a set of rolled up bandages to hand, along with clean gamgee in a separate box, which is always kept clean and shavings free.
