Getting a bit confused by rules! For dressage; can you wear a Patey at any level? Or just above novice?

For SJ & XC; obviously must be to standard; but does it have to be a skull cap? I thought fixed peaks were not allowed but can't find it anywhere.

Talking PN here. Thank you!

PN you can't wear a patey anymore. Only a harnessed upto standard hat. You can wear a "non fixed peak" hat for Sjing and XC, eg the champion vent air "normal" hats will be fine for all phases

There was a note on a BE website that siad the no beagler rle for intro and PN was being reviewed due to feedback after the announcement of the rule.

Not sure what the latest is on that though!

Totally agree! Fair enough for under 18s but surely adults can make their own choices.

Lol i totally agree that's why i was wondering what the latest was with rule.

I'll be forced to do more BD just to use my beagler if they dont change it back....and no one wants that!!!!!!!!

That's what I've ended up doing, only treated myself to a beagler last September so I'm totally gutted and got to get my monies worth out of it somehow! Either that or somehow upgrade my mare to novice in double quick time

As you may all guess I am very annoyed by this new rule. I was told by the Chief Ex, Mike E-S, that they would carry out research around the dressage areas during the spring to see what happened then would review the rule. They did not do this. BE has always been lead by research why not this time?

The problem comes with riders who wear hats that do not fit. Hats that should have straps but have been cut off or hats that are designed for showing on foot, that fall off in a wind and are staying on by shear luck only! They are spoiling it for everyone else
Why should riders who spend the time and money getting a correctly fitted Hunt Cap made. Which the MFHA says is OK for Huntsmen to wear and be insured when hunting but is not allowed for dressage arenas.
