Hiya,

Does anyone who does British Eventing here know if you have to use the horses name which is on the passport or you can choose another one when you first register a horse

If you can choose, do they diasallow names which are the same and already registered?

Thanks v much

iirc you use the one on the passport, unless another horse has it so it can be "modified" ie add numbers on the end. So in essence say a horse is registered as jack, and that is your horses name you can register your horse as jack II.
Does that make any sense?

Thanks very much.

He's called The Brook on his passport (Born by a brook in Ely lol!) Unconventional to the last...

I did have a search on the site and it looked like there were quite a few so I guess he may even have to be The Brook IV or something like that :D

If its still the same from when I registered for the first time a few years back, you can choose your own name if want.

For example my horses name registered on his passport was purely his stable name of "Toby" he didn't have a "show name" when I got him so I made up my own and registered him under that. You can usually pick any name that is not already registered, however what they don't like is you adding numerals to the end of a name that you want if it is already. I initially wanted to to registered him as "take that" but as a horse was already registered as that they wouldn't let me register him as Take That II so I had to choose another. If that makes sense.
