Sorry if i'm being a bit thick here, but isn't BE Intro x-c supposed to be 90cm
crazy.gif

I was being nosey and taking a look at the Poplar Park course on their website (trainer doing the Intermediate there on sunday), and was quite shocked by what they are advertising as the Intro and PN course
tongue.gif
It looks a LOT bigger than 90cms....and would scare the bejeezus out of me if i were doing it

I know!!! I posted this in NL a week or so ago.

Def bigger then an Intro - I am doing the Intro there on sat with a 4yr old and a Sjer who has never evented!!! Was a lot smaller last year! Oh well!

Is it me or does the Pre.N look nicer and smaller than the intro?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope ! None of it looks nice (or small !)
crazy.gif

Yes thats what I thought!!

All the PN fences are now in the Intro and the PN have some Intro fences from last year!!!

I will report back on Sunday!!! Will take piccies of the course as I walk it for you!!

I am 99% sure most of those fences ARENT intro.
The pink and yellow number are PN and Novice anyway. Orange is Intro.
Might be worth looking on EWW or ER.com and see if they have any intro fences on there.
The steps, little rail oxer and roll top most def are intro the rest have pink and yellow numbers which makes me wonder.....

Makes me wonder too! But this has been updates it said a few days ago 2007 courses now available to view! And I though oh cr*p!! Oh well at least I will see if they will be ok to PN in April!

i know but there were Intro events last year i groomed at that had intro marked as pink. and some were white! i don't htink you can take the colour of hte numbers as a def. also i thought you didn't do trakeners at Intro - i'm now sh*tting myself!!!!

saying that - the Unaff @ Tweseldown had the first fence same for both intro and PN and was horrible - a flower bed (my horse dumped me on it too!!)

Orange is intro at Poplar.

Have been there a few years running now and they run as normal.

Orange = Intro
Pink = PN
Yellow= Novice
green = Int

I hate to burst the bubble then Bandit but you DO get trakeners at intro level!
You also get corners, arrow heads and the occasional jump into water.

Most BE events will run with Orange as Intro, it may have been certain fences shared with say PN. Occasionally Aston use white numbers too.

I think its pretty obvious some of those fences featured on PP webbie arent Intro standard.

oh b*gger - i didn't see many last year!!!

I believe i saw Pink at Mattingly and White at Borde Hill. and not all were shared fances with other classes.

having walked about 8 different courses last year and knowing Bonnie, I don't really have many concerns at Intro level. My fear of ditches and all things with holes in the ground comes from Ludo depositing me in all of htem - without fail!

Bx

Well I jumped Mattingley last year and pink was def PN height.
Even if fences are shared between classes they will still have their own number ie if an intro is sharing a PN pink numbered fence it will still have an orange number on it. I have seen white also, and funny coloured yellow numbers - which def ARENT novice height lol

You like I have got to stop dwelling in the past. Bonnie doesnt stop at ditches so you will be fine
smile.gif

Oooh, the PN looks nice, really looking forward to it now!

Most difficult Intro I did was at Stockland Lovell, it had some quite tough things, including a half coffin, two quite big drops, one of which then had 3 strides on rising ground to a skinny house with no alternative, and a log into water, although I think there was an alternative at that. But I like technical stuff to be introduced at lower levels, much better to make a mess of it at 90cms than 110+ IMO.

Rambo - what were you doing looking at the course anyway?! You should come along to Munstaed and say hello, and see if you can tempt yourself to have a bash!

I agree some def arent intro standard - but all pretty straight forward - the only ones im fussing about is number 1 - I think it is ridiculous to have the same number 1 for Intro,PN,Nov and Int!!! When they have a small fence there they used last year - and this is probably most people first run of the season therefore number one should really be encorouging and also the white rails. They are usually PN the Nov have it as a spread this has always been the way for years - so bit unfair to put that in an Intro! Although the rest of the course looks lovely!
grin.gif

Shouldnt moan too much till I get there really!!

yeah - have to remain positive about Bonnie's abilities etc and forget the things Ludo did. He was totally different hunting though, but hey!

on the colours and numbers front - i will just make damn sure i check before walking any course so i get the right one!!!!

I agree about making a mess of it at a lower height!

Yaeh I heard that about SL, Twiggy did it last year and said what a toughie it was.
I love Mattingley as they seem to have a good variety of fences at the lower levels.

Hows the prep going this week Vic?

I think any ideas i had of doing a BE event on Bo went west when he did his check ligament last year.....oh, and any further doubt was soon erased when i looked at these piccies lol! I don't think i would get over the first fence to be quite frank

Prep so far: *furrows brow intensely and clears throat in serious manner*

Friday: picked up newly clean black jacket from dry cleaners, them having kindly removed the ingrained mud from hunting

Sunday: Take horse to Great Westwood with two from yard. Prats about for the first 5 minutes of jumping, then jumps everything he's pointed at. Discover he LOVES drops *watch mummy, look see I'm good at this!*, jumps every ditch there first time. Also jumps the small water and quite a chunky corner.

Today: washed all white things I could find, numnahs, bandages etc

Forthcoming prep:

Weds: build dressage arena in a field and introduce horse to this concept.

Thurs: take horse to Watermeadows where I hack another one for somebody, only she's going to ride that and I'll ride mine.

Fri: poss have jumping lesson with Anette Lewis at Patchetts, as it occured to me horse hasn't seen showjumps for a few months and all this xc practice could go to waste if he thinks they're all scary again. Must ring her and see if space.

Sat: trim everything, plait, pack, oh yeah, and lorry is going to garage in morning to fix the headlights.....

Yay all exciting stuff
smile.gif

Good idea about the SJing, dressage you can fudge, sjing you need to get past to try out the xc practise.

Sounds to me that hes getting into event mode
smile.gif

Bet you are excited now!

HAHA about the black jacket from cleaners. I sent mine away after a certain hunting day where by it was so muddy my jacket looked like i had fallen off!!! it was returned to me cleaner but smaller
smirk.gif
I have the exact same jacket and it hangs off me
smirk.gif
I WAS NOT IMPRESSED!
I think i prefered it with mud on it
smirk.gif

And young Willma, hows he doing?

Had to give him sedalin yesterday to pull his mane as he took a sudden dislike to it, stupid pony. Discovered he's fine all along the neck apart from the last 4 ins over his whither, he just wouldn't let me do it, sedalin or not
mad.gif
. However it's very thin there due to rugging, and when plaited I don't think it will be noticable. Someone suggested doing it whilst I'm on him, might try that. He was still really dozy when I hacked him today! Thinking Burnham as his first of the season, followed by SoE. Both of them I should be able to do PN on Lib on the same day if necessary.

YAY glad youre thinking of getting the hooligan out sooner
smile.gif

If im not busy I can leand a hand if you like at Burnham or and SofE
smile.gif

Me and willie
wink.gif
god love him lol

I'm not hugely keen on taking the two out together but will have to be done I guess. W worked out during mane pulling exercise that suddenly lurching sideways and stamping foreleg can stop whatever I'm doing as I nurse poor foot... Only got me the once though, I was too quick for him after that! Help always appreciated, rewarded with drink and food of course (would offer fags too but seeing as you've gone all healthy these days....)
