Im sorry, Ive forgotten again!

What's the difference (height-wise etc.) between a novice, 2 day novice, intermediate and 1* (1 day and 3 day)?

This is off the top of my head so may be wrong

Novice & Novice 2day SJ is 1.10 with 2 fences at 1.15 XC is 1.10
1* (1 day and 3day) SJ is 1.15 and XC is 1.10
Intermediate SJing is 1.20 with two fences 1.25 and XC is 1.15

Ok thanks Sarah_Jane so a 1* is same novice XC height then? Is it any longer or more technical? I always think intermediate is the next step from Novice and then 1* after that.

1* particarly at 3 day level will be a lot longer than Novice. At Weston in 2006 the course optimum was 8min 30 sec. It can also be more technical and they do build to max dimensions. Saying that because of the length there is often more time between the fences.

I would certainly recommend that anyone doing a 1* has done some simple intermediates although not everyone does.

So we've done a few novices now - do you think the next step is intermediate rather than 1*?

It depends on what your long term plans are. I'm with S_J in that if you want to do a 1* then I would plan to do 1 or 2 easier intermediates before hand.
