BE - just in it for fun?

What day are you at Richmond? I'm in the BE100 on the sunday :) I was going to do brooksby melton before realising it was cancelled so will just spectate at bramham since I've already booked it off work, then doing skipton. It's easier for me to plan way in advanced because I work weekends, then I can make sure I've booked them off

I have entered the 90 on either day just to be safe but have spoken to the secretary & will move into the 100 if we have a good run at Northallerton !! (Fingers crossed) i will drop you a pm & let you know what day I'm going to be there :)

Oooohh. Yes, I suppose. And no! Yes, I am in it for fun in that I don't mind not getting placed (our DR may stand up to a lower placing if we finish on it, but it's fairly bad). And no in that I push myself to move up the grades competently, which is not always "fun". But I love it! I'm serious about improving my technical jumping ability and for me the challenge is jumping a double clear with all direct routes. It's do-able and gives me a huge sense of achievement. Some may say "well why does she bother to move up when her DR is so bad?" and the answer is that I am still trying to improve it!! But I've set myself the goal of getting experience at the bigger tracks, rather than winning. Which is likely just as well, as winning looks a little implausible.

But I wouldn't come away feeling it was fun even if I'd had a terrible day - so I guess the outcome does matter (and that's probably how most people feel).

I'm definitely in it for the fun - I'm extremely driven and competitive but know the limits of me and my little horse. Neither of us is great at dressage (but are working very hard on it with our instructor). Scores use to be in the 40's, now in the 30's but don't think we'll ever move down to the 20's anytime soon! He is super bold jumping but that generally means we roll poles in the SJing. He makes up for it all in the XC as is always clear and within or close to the time. We are only at BE90 but hope to move up to BE100 later in the season. I use to be placed in the BE80Ts but can't seem to get anywhere close to it in the 90s yet.

Either way, we both love it and nothing beats that feeling when you finish the XC - always super proud as my wee guy is only 15.1hh.

Event reports/photos/videos are on our blog is anyone fancies a read. www.amateurantics.net

I enjoy eventing, was hoping to be more competitive but my horse is quite tricky xc. He is very careful and is great show jumping, dressage was improving (low 30s at BE100) and the xc fences were fine height wise (I have jumped round a Novice xc), but usually a silly stop at a lairy fence or a stop at the water. I think he is too careful! Luckily he can jump really well so arriving at a fence sideways whilst stopping to look at some fence dressing didn't stop us jumping the fence (most of the time!) but it did slow us down so always had time faults. We have been placed at BE90 and BE100 but very inconsistent. However he is my first horse and I was happy to get round a BE90!
I have had 5 years off due work and small child but planning on a BE80 this yesr eeeekk!!
I am planning on having fun!
