BE members - can you logon and find out about the 7p fuel discount?

And surely the argument is that if you're going to be a member of BE anyway, you might as well use these benefits if they apply to your life. No one is going to join BE to get a fuel discount!

I can see the point about tracking/consumer info (and I have a strongly libertarian streak ;) ) but you don't get something for nothing is this world, generally, so the participating retailers are only going to do it if there is a benefit to them. (Yes, part of the benefit is the potential to encourage people to buy more of their product, but that's offset against the price reduction and, as this thread shows, most people who participate would have bought the product most of the time anyway.) No retailer is just going to give money off a product just because someone is a member of a non-charitable organisation for the heck of it.

You can always choose not to buy the vouchers.

Only if someone logs in and posts the link to the purchase page I think! Whoever that was might want to delete it as that's kind of not the point, is it?! Though Edenred might also want to look at their security. There are a whole host of other things on there which you can only see as a logged in member - presumably unless someone posts the direct link to them!

Me! Well my point was that I don't think you need to be a BE member to access the vouchers (it's probably google-able in the same way that "vouchercodes" is) but yes, would be happy to delete if could!

I did try - but everywhichway I did it other than clicking on your link asked me to log in. You wanna be careful, once they realise, they'll probably associate your credit card with your login and then everyone else will be buying vouchers on your £££ ;)

The other thing to watch for is that if you want them posted special delivery, then it costs £4.80 - which makes the discount you get basically worthless on anything under £100 of vouchers. If you don't get them posted special delivery, then they aren't insured, so if they get lost, you lose the cash. In this day and age, that's a bit pathetic. Why can't they provide you with a collect in store system?

But I don't shop in Tescos and Quidco doesn't give any kind of cashback on Sainsbury's grocerys or vouchers from what I can see. So I can't be better off using Quidco for Sainsbury's can I? Perhaps I am missing something.

Why is it badly executed?

I mean in general if people are keen to save money in order to redirect that spare cash into their BE fund imho they would be better off getting the supermarket loyalty card, and joining a large cashback site. For example last time I checked you could get up to £100+ cashback on utilities and services, what I'm trying to get across is that there are many many savings to be had either with redemption deals, voucher codes, loyalty points, promotional offers etc that if you are a savvy shopper you can save loads.

It's badly executed simply because it hasn't been done clearly or in a streamlined way. The first and very major no no in my book is not divulging how to actually get said discount unless you join - that's just plain ridiculous!!!! I bet they have something like a 75% drop off at this point in the journey simply due to that very odd decision not to disclose the details of the deal.

This also makes me very sceptical that it is in fact not an exclusive offer, me thinks they are using the 'sign up then we will tell you' approach in order to not make it clear that people could get this deal/or very similar one else where....

I am a bit more critical about this than most of BE's endeavours because this is my industry, seems to me like they need some better loyalty/member/affiliate scheme advice ;)

but I do support their attempt to help members and listening to their feedback, just a shame this didn't spend a few more weeks in dev and then them launch with something that was really useful, clear and easy to use

You don't have to join per se - I just clicked on the link once I was logged in to the BE site and it took me straight into all the info. I didn't have to fill in any forms etc.

I already do use Quidco for stuff, but there are a few deals on the BE site which are not available through quidco/equivalent and which I'd use - the Sainsbury's vouchers and the 50% off MOT being two.

I think its good that they are trying to give us some sort of "reward" scheme - for want of a better word.
Its just a shame that it wasn't presented very well - the introduction page doesn't even explain how the scheme works - a simple sentence saying - use this web site to buy vouchers at a discounted rate - would almost have been enough - instead I had to go about the site trying to figure it out.
Having to pay £4.80 for recorded postage seems ridiculous as it would use up most of what you have saved unless you bought a huge amount, like the previous poster said, in store collection would be much easier!
Finally - it does look good that there are lots of companies involved so most people should be able to get something from it.

Hate to be a spoiler but generally people around here in the know steer clear of supermarket fuel as on average I get 10% less MPG from my discovery filling at tescos which more than couteracts any saving.

I would be interested to hear if anyone has bought the sainsburys card/voucher and what their experience was of using it, after reading theT & C's it seems you could be quite limited on what items you can use them on and inconjuction with other instore offers, sounds way to complicated to me and doesn't feel like a benefit!!!
