Hi all,

Not new to horses but new to BE!

in a depressed stated of losing my horse of lift time, i spent all my savings and a singing all dancing eventer.. and he is just amazing. Everything ive dreamed of. I have done a few unaff ODE's and now it's time affliate.

If i bought a membership with BE now, would it be pointless as the season ends in a few months? should i just wait until next year and just do a few this autumn on a ticket?

How does it work?

Thank you all :) and i promise to post pictures soon! x

I’m pretty sure that your own rider membership runs for a year from the date you take it out (but do double check).

It’s the horse registration that is seasonal - you can buy a half season which when I worked it out was approx equivalent to 4 tickets.

Assuming rider runs for a year and you plan to do at least 4 events, you may as well just register, at least you get ballot stickers then

Rider runs for a year... think mine is may to may.
You can get a 6 month, half year ticket for a horse. Only worth doing if you want to run more than 4 times and get qualifications etc imo.

Depends... are you just planning a couple or will you want to do one in August, 2 in september, 2 in october... then join.
I have a horse that I have just started and is staying on a ticket as there is not much happening in October up here.

Take a look at the schedule for the events you want to do for the rest of the season. Did they ballot last year? If they are popular and you really want to run, then registering now means you get ballot numbers (these come with the horse season ticket). If you are on a ticket, you are bottom of the pile unless you can volunteer to help.

Depends if you have any of BE's winter indoor events in your area that you want to do, if not (we dont have them up here so absolutely nothing to do BE-wise from end of Sep to end of April!) then I wouldn't bother joining yet, Id do tickets this year then join just before your first event next year. Then you wont have wasted possibly 6 months membership over the winter doing nothing.
