Can anyone get me some info on the above stallion. Is he any good? I vwork with an ex racehorse by him and dam was miss spencer. Dont think our old man did too good racing would love to find out his breeding. Thanks

Be my Native was one of the top National Hunt sires- he sired many top steeplechasers and point to pointers such as Shotgun Willy,. Sir OJ and Rhinstone Cowboy.
Certainly a very famous sire.

Hes certainly good as a jumping sire - his offspring include Rhinestone Cowboy, Nativeupmanship and Ned Kelly. He was foaled in 1979 and was a leading National Hunt stallion and stood at Coolmore at one stage. In 1994 he covered over 320 mares in one year so there were a lot of offspring, in fact hes used as the example of the overbreeding of some of these stallions! he won the Coronation Cup a top mile and a half race.

hope this is interesting info

Looks like your boy was the best of the offspring. I can remember him running in the early 90's as he frequented a few of the Midland tracks.

thank you so much i wonder if there are any old photos about of him racing? i really dont know anyting about racing so i will take your word about him been good, would you be able to explain abit about all that next to his name. I never thought about looking up his past until today whan he dragged me up the field the pi**ed of full pelt!!!. He must of stoped racing after breaking down he has been fired in both front legs.

I guess you have looked him up on the Racing Post site? He ran 32 times winning 2 and placed third in 5. He actually won his first race! His half brothers and sisters were not even that good
The bit above is as follows:
g - gelding
(11.7f) - Think this is the average winning distance of Be my native offspring
the remaining figures are flat results for him 2 wins, 2 places, 12 runs. Total prizemoney 3851.90, racing post rating of 52 (top horses have around 130+)
Then the distances he raced / won over? 18f (2 1/4miles).
He may have point to pointed but haven't got access to my books here so can't look it up. He didn't run under rules for 4 years between 91 & 95.

I remember Susan Kersey riding him when trained by her father. Did think that a horse belonging to my family once raced against him but I was mistaken.

Yes ive just foung the bit on Racing post. Thanks for all your help. Do you think there will be any racing pics about of him. I think i will try and find his old owners address and write to her. Thanks once again.

I would guess that there wouldn't be anything online as it was some while ago when he last ran. I would have thought the Kersey's might be more likely to have something although he did win when trained by Harry Wharton. Neither are training now though but Trevor Kersey did train near Rotherham if that's any help to you? I could look him up in a couple of days when I get back home as to his last address. Ron Muddle who is also listed as a previous trainer used to own Southwell racecourse.
