Can anyone help? I remember just before they changed the website there was a news release about notifying BE of your intention to be considered for Le Lion, and that this was a pre-requisite for gaining entry to Gatcombe CIC*. I can't remember what the cut-off date was (I've a nasty feeling it was 22nd June, but could have been 22nd July). I'll ring them tomorrow, but just wondered if anyone knew how to direct me to the old press-release? Many thanks.

SELECTION POLICIES FOR LE LION D’ANGERS 2007

Britain, as all other countries, has been allocated three places in the 6 year old class and 5 places in the 7 year old class at the Young Horse Championships at Le Lion d’Angers 2007. The qualifications in 2007 will be the same as for 2006, a minimum of a CIC* for the 6 year olds, and the normal qualification as per the FEI rules for a CCI** for the 7 year olds.

All riders/owners wishing to be allocated one of the places at Le Lion d’Angers on 18th - 21st October must notify the BE international department in writing by 20th July.

6 year olds will be asked to compete in the CIC* at Gatcombe on 15th – 16th September where the best British horse in the top five will get an automatic place at Le Lion. The other two places will be held as wild cards for the riders representing Great Britain in the European Championships in Pratoni, or any other horse/rider combination that has had results that warrant selection for Le Lion providing the horse is qualified.

7 year olds will be asked to compete in the CIC** at Gatcombe on 15th – 16th September. The two best placed British horses in the top ten will get an automatic place at Le Lion. The other three places will be held as wild cards for the riders representing Great Britain in the European Championships in Pratoni, or any other horse/rider combination that has had results that warrant selection for Le Lion providing the horse is qualified.

If no horse fulfils the above criteria the guaranteed places will be used as wild cards as well.

Should the senior selectors not use any of the wild cards the places will go to the next best placed British horse in either the CIC* or CIC** regardless of their placing.

The senior selectors would like to emphasise that horses for wild cards will be judged on the quality of their rounds, not the quantity of runs.

The senior selectors reserve the right, in exceptional circumstances, to make changes to the above selection policies but should this be the case will endeavour to notify to everyone concerned.
