I'm thinking of having a go at some eventing in the new year, so i wondered whether any of you know of nice venues that either do BE or unaff ODE around Grantham, Lincolnshire? Arena UK is doing a JAS comp in janurary, i was thinking of having a go at that, what do you all think? And of course there's Oasby, but i don't know whether its a good venue for someone thats new to eventing?

Me and ponio have mainly done SJ, 90cm- 1m classes, schooling over 1.10m-1.20m at home, have been xc schooling at a chasers course down the road a lot, and have been to aylesford xc a couple of times, i find that i'm braver xc weirdly, so we did tackle some of the larger fences at aylesford and had no trouble :)

Any idea as to venues or any tips on getting started?? :)

Thank you! :)

There are a few really good ode Be run at shelford, oasby, Lincoln showground, norton Disney
East midland dressage group run a unaffilated ODE at osberton which is in feb so it's good for a pre-season run other good Unaffilated ODE epworth hope this helps :):)

Second Oasby - it's run early in the season and I'd guess with warm up in mind so it's a lovely course (assuming it's not under a river of course with all this rain!), they often do an unaffiliated the weekend after
Shelford is also really nice and do unaffiliated as well as BE
Cranwell saddle club do a nice unaffiliated as does the Burghley pony club
I tend to fine the unaffilaited ones on Lincs Equestrian so worth keeping an eye on that

For pre event practice the chaser course at Pointon is great for a run round and for proper schooling the xc at Aylesford has a fantastic range of fences at differnent heights (near Melton)

EMDG have a unaff at Osberton late feb which is nice ( gets booked up early though)
Buckminster have unaff ODE ( Belvoir PC ) and theres some nice PC ones Cottesmore & Burghley are probably the best. If you're looking for more pc ones area 6 covers lincs/ Notts / Leics

Hope this helps

We've been to Aylesford a couple of times and tackled some of the big fences, and we both are braver and bolder with xc than with sj, so we loved it! I'm only a mile down the road from ponton chasers so we've got a membership there and its a place where we go pretty much all the time, at least 2 times a month! :)

Thank you to everyone, you've helped a lot!
What do you all think about the JAS thing, is it worth having a go at it or do unaff ODE's first??? :)
