The BE rule book says 'Rowel Spurs' are permitted in dressage. I am not sure what these are. I have goggled it and an array of different styles come up - most of which I am sure can't be dressage legal!

I was wondering a, what they look like and b, what do u wear for the BE dressage phase?

I am eventing at BE90/100 level!

Thanks

Hiya,

Rowels are commonly used in pure dressage and are BD legal (as long as they are not sharp).

They have a rotating disk at the end of them so that you can roll your spur up the horse's side to encourage lift through the back. Some of them have 'tines' on and some are smooth. You are only permitted to use smooth ones in BE.

I only use the little black MT ones as my top pony marks very easily. On my other little mare I wear very blunt dummy spurs for a little bit of extra oomph when we need it (medium canter!!).

Hope that helps!!:D
