Well being the geek I am I have read the new book and found the following which I think is excellent news:

1) You can now win 3 PN before moving to OPN
2) PN3DE has come down to £150
3) If you come 1st-6th in PN3DE you instantly qualify for PN finals - so well done Martha!
4) Prices have gone up by £2 for intro/PN, £4 Novice/Int and £10 for advanced.

But best of all!
Qualification for a CCI 1* is now 4 clears at Novice which is great news for me (if I can get round novice!) as now do not have to do an Int or N2DE. This means so many more people will qualify for it. I would appreciate it if someone could double check this but its what I understand.

I am sure there is other things but this is what I picked up on.

Great news......winstons won 3 PN's including OPN now

WOO HOO £150 is far more managable - funny that theyve been able to drop the fees

Prices were bound to go up! Im paying £18 for a sjing round atm!!

The 4 Novice clears are do able which is great news for the grassroute rider

I havent even opened the rule book, I shall just be pleased to be able to find the money to go out and compete tbh.

I know Addington's nice, but £18 for a Disco

I paid £13 on sunday, and that's one of the more expensive venues in our area

Wow disco round me is £10 - £12 but I am sure Hand will stick their prices up once work has been done. Clear round is £2 definately glad I am stuck in a rural backwater!

When I read about the PN change I thought of you! But at least by doing well at PN3DE you get to qualify for the finals that is a good idea.

But does that include the OPN3DE?? I doubt it cos there is nothing for OPN riders to qualify for
frown.gif

Hey ho, Winnie will have the pressure off him anyway next summer - will try for a OPN3DE probably Aldon but will stick to SJing him over the summer on a surface.
The Snoops tho......
wink.gif

As far as I know it should include OPN as Winston is still grade 4.

In the rule book it says ' Horses placed 1st to 6th in PN3de or OPN3DE held between 1st March 2006 - 30th June 2007 and grade 4 at start of comp will directly qualify.'

The horse that won the champs for PN had 5 points before doing the final.

WOO HOO
Young Winston has something to aim for
smile.gif
so i wonder if that means they will run OPN regional finals.....umm.

Well hes only got the spring to pull his hoof out, as i really dont want him suffering wtih bruised soles like last season
frown.gif

Snoop will aim for BYEH and PAVO 5 year olds - then again, may just go SJing lol

What seems to me to be a bit stupid is that you have to enter a normal PN in order to get to PNRF which discounts a lot of grade 4 horses who have won more than 2 PN. The main thing is that you need to be grade 4. Think OPN should be allowed to qualify for a RF as surely you guys have a harder job anyway against horses who have done dressage to 4* level?
Think you should email BE!

Its £18 including the first aid charge.
Still...... its the same about for doing dressage too!

EDT it cost me £16 for 3 clear rounds!!

[/ QUOTE ]

My £13 includes first aid too....well, that venue doesn't actually charge a fee for first aid
blush.gif

Ive tried that Lec, im at a loss!
Its a crap rule
frown.gif
there are ppl out there on horses in OPN classes with NO points but we arent allowed to run in a PN only HC!
Its really pants cos theres nothing for the likes of us to qualify for
frown.gif
apart from the OPN3DE which most of us couldnt afford to do anyway.

Well they are stoopid then introducing crappy open intro as well! There is no rule for intro that you can win a certain amount then have to move out. Find it all a bit ridiculous think it should be if you are grade 4 in any section of PN then you can go and do a PNRF as surely that is pretty special anyway and at a higher standard.

Hand actually dropped their prices from £14 to £10 for BN/Dis when Nick Davies took over, so I wouldn't think they'll put it up again. Are you going jumping this saturday?

That's good news about the PNs, and the price drop for the 3 day. Glad it backfired on them this year and no one entered at least they have realised they were being greedy

I was tempted to start reading mine last night but then the Sleep Monster came and took me away!

I'm surprised about the 1 star qualification not including an intermediate or N2D. I did Hartpury last year and that was big enough compared with some of the novices I'd done. Maybe some people will do an intermediate, just so they're ahead of the game, before they do their one star?

Well that is what it says on page 151 which is the FEI rules and compared it to last years rule book and definately changed but been flicking through and on 85 it says the old rules about doing an int or 2DE. So am now confused as it says you must satisfy FEI rules which is page 151.

On FEI website says your national federation certifies you as competant.

I have emailed BE as it affects my plans ultimately because the * at Aldon is usually pretty nice and if the qualification is 4 novices this is very achievable. If its 2DE or an Int might have to wait till next year. Tis very confusing.

i can assure everyone that an int or nov 2 day qualifying result was a definate requirement last year as getting one in with my girl before she attempted chepstow was the bane of my life!! I am overjoyed that 4 Novs will do though have to agree with the post that said hartpury was big enough, it was!!

Re CCI qualification- we're highly peed off as the only reason Grinder did Aldon 2 day was for his qualifictaion.
They could have warned us they were going to scrap it!!!

Arhh but boss - Im sure grinder enjoyed bombing around the chase

Oh he loved it... the problem is that he thought the whole thing was wonderful and is now completely, intolerably up himself!!!

Damn it my email had an effect on BE as they have posted on the website! Same rules as last year.

Dont you just love um

*British Eventing accepts no responsibilty for anyone entering a competition and not being qualified due to this printing error.*

Err you ask us to spend the time reading the bloody rule book then you go round changing it then saying its not your fault!

Well whose bloody fault is it then?
mad.gif

Hohum back to doing N2DE as an aim for me then. I was so excited last night at thought of doing a 1* this season.
I can see a few mix ups happening due to it and till I pointed it out nobody had picked up on it. 10,000 people with the wrong qualifications printed up! Think BE office should read rule book.

Big mess up, bet theyre kicking themselves!!
The problem with N2days is that there arent any. If BE planned the calendar better, things would be far, far easier
mad.gif

There are 3 bloody N2DEs - guess we are lucky as 2 are in SW but the ruddy one I would want to do this season is in Norfolk and I am not going that far. Chepstow is too early and Aldon too late. Guess they want you to go intermediate.

Exactly- if theyre going to make it a qualification then they have to provide us with the classes.
It's like the CIC* thing- we NEED one over here!!!

Oh you got me all excited then, thinking that it might be quite possible for us to do a CCI* next year
frown.gif
Hopefully i'll be picked for the JRN champs if we do well next season as that will be my only chance...

At least there are some which are vaguely near you! The closest to me is Chepstow and thats still 4/5 hours away and as you say they are at the wrong time of year.

I agree! Is it that much more difficult to run a CIC* than say a Novice or Int?
