Hi can someone please tell me the rules for qualifying for the Scottish BEnovice championships? I believe for BE90 you just have to come 1st-5th in a BE90 but is this the case for BEnovice or do you qualify for the BEnovice regional finals then qualify for the Scottish Championships at Hendersyde?

Thank you

Everyone who has been 1st -5th in a 90 in Scotland is qualified for the 90 Scotttish Champs at Hendersyde. They normally run with Dr then XC then SJ in reverse order. This is from the rule book:

Scottish National Championships
a. Open Championship
The Open Championship will be run in accordance with the Rules for a CIC3*
class, and is open to all those qualified to compete at that level.
b. Intermediate Championship
The Intermediate Championship will be run in accordance with the Rules for a
CIC2* class, and is open to all those qualified to compete at that level.
c. Scottish and Northern Regional Novice Championship
This Championship will be run in accordance with the Rules for an Intermediate
Novice Class, but confined to:
1. Horses that from 1st July of the previous season to 30th June of the current
season that have been placed in the first 10 of a CCI1* or in the first 6 of a
CIC1* or 1st, 2nd or 3rd in an IN, ON or Nov including ONu18 one day event
in the Scottish & Northern Region or elsewhere in GB if ridden by a resident
in the Region.
2. Grade 2 and 3 horses ridden by a resident in the Region that have completed
in the previous 6 months to the championships with no more than 20 XC
jumping penalties and 16 SJ penalties at Intermediate, CIC 2* or CCI2*.
3. No Grade 1 horses at Ballot Date.
d. BE100 Championship
1. Any eligible combination placed first to fifth in a BE100 or BE100 Open
section in Scotland between 1st July of the preceding year and 30th June of
current year is qualified to compete at the Scottish BE100 Championship.
2. All eligible Horses must be Grade 4 at the ballot date of the event at which
they qualify for the Scottish BE100 Championship.

e. BE90 Championship
1. Any combination placed first to fifth in a BE90 section in Scotland between
1st July of the preceding year and 30th June of current year is qualified to
compete at the Scottish BE90 Championship.
2. BE90 Open results do not count towards qualification.

Thank you! So if my horse came 2nd in an ONu18 or OpenNovice and they are grade 2 can they qualify or do they have to be grade 3/4? My horse has 41 points and 20 foundation points

Reading the rules it says that you would qualify if this happened, i.e. "1st, 2nd or 3rd in an IN, ON or Nov including ONu18 one day event
in the Scottish & Northern Region or elsewhere in GB if ridden by a resident in the Region" and "No Grade 1 horses at Ballot Date."
So, 2nd in a ONu18 and grade 2 is OK.
Your horse's qualifications should be on the BE website if you log in and click on it's name.
Or even better, phone BE and ask them!
