I've advertised Bentley.

OH and I are seriously trying to save some cash, and whichever way I look at it I simply cannot justify the £500 a month it costs to keep my gorgous boy :(

Any spare hugs and "be strong" type vibes please, I'm more than a little bit gutted :)

Sorry to hear you are having to sell your horse.
At least you are putting his welfare first, dont forget you can always say no to people who you dont think are right.
Good luck .

Have a choc drink on me for being very brave and making a decision.:)

Well done for putting him first - its the right decision and you'll find the right people who'll look after your boy. You can always ask them to stay in touch :)
Well done again on thinking logically about whether you can keep him comfortably
Good luck and ((((hugs))))

Flipping heck, what a brave decision you are making. Well done you. I hope that at some stage in the future you are rewarded with a lottery win of millions and can keep however many horses you want. You have my total respect and sympathy.

can't you find somewhere to keep him cheaper or try and keep him for less, it doesnt cost me that much per month for mine! x

Thanks for all the kind words and support everyone, I can always rely on HHO for horse-related sympathy :D

Ted's Mum and MrsM thanks for the suggestions- I have looked but sadly because I work full time I have to keep him on part livery and it comes at a premium- plus all the extras for insurance, feed, bedding etc really stack up

Now you've made the decision you should try not to second guess yourself. There's no need to sell your horse to the first person who makes an offer - you obviously think the world of him so make sure you're 100% sure that you're happy with any potential buyers that come along. Gut feeling is a wonderful thing. Maybe some day you'll be able to return to horse ownership? But good for you for thinking logically now. Better that than holding on to him, and getting yourself into difficulties ..... hope everything works out for you. :)

Ah wow, how funny i should stumble on this...Bentley used to be on my yard (was romeo right?), im a friend of Kims and i remember the day she bought him home...what a sorry state he was. May i just say what an amazing job you have done with him, he looks super duper well, a totally different horse!
And dont beat yourself up about advertising him, its tough keeping horses but you have obviously done such a great job with him so far, i am truly shocked at how much he has changed so well done you and a big pat on the back i think :)
good luck with finding him a new home, where he can start the next chapter of his life...you have certainly stood him in good stead.
:)

Strange coincidence indeed LastPhoenix!! :-) Thank you for your kind words, he has turned into such a beautiful kind boy.

I've had three emails about him already today and it's left me feling rather glib :-o
