Following on from MDM's post about sponsorship, I was inspired to try and put together an initial letter which Rosie could send to .... um, not sure who but that's another issue.

I thought I needed to include some kind of reference to what she's done this year at BE. So inspired this time by Rambo's post about SJ success rates and to keep it simple, I looked at the number of times she's been placed a) in the top ten and b) in the top three.

It pans out like this:
32 classes entered (intro to 2*) of which she was placed in the top ten 23 times (71.8%) and the top three 10 times (30.3%).
It's a bit of an arbitary measure because it depends how many starters there were. Can you tell I have too much spare time
wink.gif

Can anyone else be bothered to do the sums for their season?

No. it's too depressing. I improved by over 20 penalties between Aldon (first event of the season) and Nutwell Court (last event we did) and came 20th in both. I suspect I should give up and buy a rocking horse.

Well mine is far too easy this year!
Entered 2 pn - retired her xc at the first (had 2 stops at the trakehner) and was eliminated at the 2nd
tongue.gif
at a bloody log 3 from home silly mare! She went home after that...
Have first intro with new horse in a couple of weeks, so we'll see how that goes! x

I can be bothered I just wouldnt want to embarress myself!
grin.gif

But I blame my bad results on having to work full time as well!

I havent been placed at all this yr but have had a few close ones, esecially Brightling ON with Dext that was so annoying!

I think you should def go for the sponsorship with Rosie her percentages are pretty impressive
smile.gif

Er no, hehe. This is not a set of statistics i would like to look at. I have ben placed once this year, 6th at Borde Hill
shocked.gif
smirk.gif
. Pretty impressive concussion at Brightling....i wonder what i'd put that under
tongue.gif

Definitely worth doing for ROsie though....much more impressive!!
grin.gif

Lol!!

My results this year-

Classes entered- 10

Top 10 finishes- 1 (10%)

Top 3 Finishes- 0 (0%)

Double clears- 3 (33%)

Impressive stuff, huh
smirk.gif

I was feeling quite smug that I had a completely clear XC record this season..... until the last 2 runs!!!
mad.gif
So no, I dont want to work it out!!
tongue.gif
Have managed a 10th in one PN though
tongue.gif

I am going to Oasby in a couple of weeks for first BE event. Can tell you my sucess rate will be 0% - will get eliminated is sj, or by some small miracle i manage to survive it will get eliminated on the xc.

Haven't been eventing this season, but last season:

12 runs (4 Intro, 4 PN, 4 Novice)

25% wins (one at each level)
50% top 3 placings
67% top 4 placings
75% top 10 placings

Amazing horse! Had been so looking forward to competing him this season and going up to intermediate.

Ok A few break downs

Overall 3 seasons and PN and Novice

Top 10 - 72%
Top 3 - 12%

PN
Top 10 - 92%
Top 3 - 9%

Novice
Top 10 - 43%
Top 3 - 15%

Rosies results are very impressive!

Those are great statistics
smile.gif
I used to do publicity for racehorse trainers and, while win and place %ges are published for them I used to try to find other stats that showed them in a good light (quite tough sometimes
wink.gif
)

I also used to do a newsletter for Matt Ryans owners and sponsors a few years ago and I included similar stats to your in his, and from memory there wasn't a lot of difference between his and Rosie's! Similar %ges but I think we were looking at top 5 placings and actual wins or something... Also, obviously included all results up to 4*
wink.gif
Still, shows she's doing really well

This season

Here you go:

78.6% in top 10
63.6% top 3 placings
21.4% wins

do number of wins, places etc divided by number of runs then times by 100

lol. erm, well you may have noticed I didn't include wins as she's only had one this season. Thanks for nice comments but Rosie does work at the yard full time so probably has far more time to work on her own horses than most people.

Lots of you have pretty good stats I think and anyway they're not a real measure of success tbh, it's far more about distance travelled. I also know you all have lots of fun which is the main thing.

I'm still breathing plus have sound gg at mo so i'm happy bunny, it would be nice to say yeah winning but ain't. But still making progress in first season and moved up from Intro to PN and now want to make next move up. But not going too, as still learning game with green but happy horse. So no good for sponorship BUT do feed and water well any helpers

This is just what I need to cheer me up after a rubbish day on Saturday, thanks Rosiefan.

Out of 24 starts (including one where I didn't run xc) I was in the top ten 13 times and the top three 5 times. That's with my two boys and four other occasional/part-time ("Baydale Bootcamp") ponies.

. I haven't actually mentioned Rosie's big E (well I wouldn't would I
wink.gif
) although it's included in the sums. Her stats include a couple of boot camp jobs too.
Lovely to meet you at LD and it was only a bad day in terms of your and H's exacting standards. At least the sun shone on us
grin.gif

gosh, too depressing. i once worked out my percentage of cross-country clears at all levels over the years, much more satisfying!
umm, James - 8 events where I ran xc, 3 top ten placings, but that was stepping up from Intro through PN to Novice so wasn't expecting to be really competitive yet. So, 37.5%.
frown.gif
only 1 xc jumping penalty (run out due to Moment of Muppetry on top) in those though)
Katy - 7 events, PN to Novice, but no placings because she decided she just did not DO dressage (or SJ most of the time!) Great clears xc every time though, so that's some consolation.
wink.gif

Think you might have a superstar in the making there
smile.gif
. I didn't include PC/RC results, mainly because I can't remember the results and you can't look 'em up on the net

It was great to meet you too. What was depressing was that I was better placed at Rolleston AI with my dunking in the water than I was at Lt Downham OI.

(off to do my report now.)

Stats are worked out on the Eventing Ireland website - so daughter's coloured mare, competing PN was in the top 6 70% of the time, including one 1st and one 2nd. Unfortunately has had to be retired with a heart problem. New horse - one 5th at novice, 15th twice and one E cause of rider fall. New rule meant elim even though it was just an out the side door when the horse pecked on landing over a big drop!

Out of 9 events this season (novice), not including 3 day -

Top 10 finishes - 23% (2)
Top 3 finishes - 23% (2)
Double clears - 34%
Clear xc - 100%!!!

With reading how successful everyone on here is, I just thought I would add an interesting fact I read somewhere about BE!
Only 2% of members ever win a rosette!!
Do you think the whole 2% are HHOers?!
blush.gif

This year
11 events
2 top ten
3 double clears
3 points
1 retirement

All for someone who started eventing aged 40 on home bred horse who was learning with her

Equals I'm happy
grin.gif

I'm not playing
mad.gif

I last got a rosette in 2006 I think, and I've evented four horses since then. I'm not telling you how many runs I've had - it's been plenty. I've got a stupid number of 11th places if that counts?

*trots off to spend all winter practising EVERYTHING so that I'm invincible next season*

blimey
just done them for my boy's first season of eventing! (so far)
10 runs - 4 intro, 5 PN, 1 N

Top 10 finishes - 7/10 = 70% (one of these was 6th in the novice)
Top 5 finishes - 5/10 - 50%
One winner (IRF at Stockland Lovell) - 10%

Dressage-
mark in 20s - 6 out of 10 - 60%
mark in 30s or below - 90%
one 40 at Portman

SJ-
5 poles our of 10 runs - 50%
Intro - 1 pole out of 4 runs
PN - 5 poles out of 5 runs
Novice - 0 poles out of 1 run

XC-
8 out of 10 clear rounds XC
85 pens at PN at Portman (I sat on the first fence)
20 pens at Iping novice (didnt understand the question and half took off then didnt!)

I think thats rather good for his first season eventing, which hasnt even finished yet!

Didn't include unaff PN at Tweseldown this weekend when he came 6th on a double clear mind!

That's put me in a brilliant mood now! Just don't want to do it for the other horse!

That's what is so stupid about statistics - you must definitely change the parameters to include 11th as a place because it so nearly is and anyway, why shouldn't you

Jules, nothing - just
