BE - whats cool & whats not

[ QUOTE ]
I'm probably wrong seeing as how lots of people are saying they wear their medical armbands on their leg, but I thought you weren't allowed to have it on your leg incase a rider got trapped beneath a horse and the medical details couldn't be seen because horse was on top of leg. Unlikely scenario I know but not impossible.

Its also not impossible for your arm to get trapped!!

super most super. thanks everyone.

I shall have a prolite pad over my white saddle cloth as we can't afford a sheepskin (and we need it)

I shall do all 3 phases in my patriot jumping saddle as we can't afford a devoucoux dressage saddle

i shall use my elasticated breast girth as we cant afford a 5 point one

I shall do xc in PE's as we can't afford dalmars

i shall do sj in clarendons as we can't afford eskadrons

(see a theme here?)

I can however afford a new stock, so I am dam sure it will be colour co-ordinated with my jacket and I shall also spring for some new (non holey gloves & some shiny spurs)

As for the leg arm issue, it depends if my bingo wings are irritated on the day

At least I know what I am saving for tho' thanks guys!!

OMG! This is so much fun!

Agree with everything RachelFerd said but definately the Patey hat for dressage and the sheepkin 1/2 pad with saddle cloth.
Just a few other things you NEED if your going to look like the pros... Must have an equissage machine, preferably on your horse before dressage.

Also those aerborn cool boots for when you finish xc and off course tubigrip under your prolite boots!
grin.gif

And a second morgage to pay for it all!!! lol

This was just a plea from eventing Ireland to stop people wearing them on their leg and that was the excuse they gave!
Personally I wear it on my arm all the time!

hehe! in all seriousness though the aerborn cool boots are fantastic!

(we only have one pair to use on the front legs though - far too expensive to get a second pair for the back legs aswell!

)

Ive already failed on "eventing coolness" as my showjacket has a large blue and purple check running through it

whoops guess i should be on the showing circuit!!

As said before boots etc are up to you what ever you have and usually wear put on!

And please put you ARM band on your arm if you put the velcro toward the backing of the arm band so you only have elastic round your arm it shouldn't rub and if it does have long sleeves on and then if you do have a whoopsie you shouldn't scrap your arms too much

Rachelferd your post looks like the my checklist !
I am self titled all the gear no idea - if I spent half as much money on training and half the amount of time I spend shopping riding I might do a bit better !
Remember eventing is more old money style where show jumping is new money style if you know what I mean !
Enjoying it is the most important thing but looking good whilst enjoying it is a bonus !
No, being serious now its not about the gear as long as you and your horse are comfortable and protected you will be fine!
Good luck, look forward to your report ( with pics for the trinnys on here )

Please please please can someone give detailed instructions on how to get the arm band to stay on arms??

Ive got a proper old style body protector without shoulder pads, and so I need it to fit around my arm which is probably of a diameter of 5inches??
confused.gif
Its NEVER stayed on my arm, yet always stays perfectly round the top bit of my boots....

Ive tried wrapping round twice etc etc, but the velcro bit never seems to fit...

Mind you, I really am an amateur - should I be hiding it?
grin.gif

I have to say what I wear for the intros/one PN I have done..... I am HUGELY unfashionable - hee hee!
grin.gif

Albion jumping saddle for all three phases (its black = VERY unfashionable!)
Fulmer happy mouth french link cavesson bridle for all three phases.
No martingale or stupidly expensive 5 point breastplate for any phase
Grey jacket, vaguely tweedy, pale bluey stock for dressage with skull cap.
Black numnah for dressage, blue Pessoa one for SJ and XC - INCREDIBLY unfashionable.
Ok, ok, so prolites on the front, but only cos he hates to hit things and they are lovely!!!

Don't know how Patey hats are still allowed as
a) they look ridiculous, if I wanted to make my head look like a melon, I would certainly pay less
grin.gif

b) how can they be safe at all???!!! Whats the point of having all this palaver about only one fall and frangible fences, when you let people wear some cardboard thing shaped like a hat - that also makes you look like a ponce!
grin.gif
grin.gif

Nothing else fancy at all, apart from the stunningly unfashionable odd coloured horse obviously!!!

PS please don't buy a five point breastplate, they will be so old news and soooo out of fashion when the 7-pointer comes in next season

whoa there, who says black saddles are unfashionable?? does that mean I lose my cool point for having a monoflap if it's black (and it's suede)

Hiya toto, aswanley & then wee burgie, you going to either of those?

I was thinking about doing aswanley but I am going on holiday the week after so I can't really afford it. And I have been round Burgie twice this year and don't really want to do it again! But I will probably be going to watch.
