I did Sapey yesterday and only heard the sad news after we got home but while walking the course I noticed the fence that it happened at because it had alot of white/light coloured stone in front of it and I was glad I didn't have to jump it as my horse would try to jump the stone as well thinking it was water .Maybe this was put down after the incident, maybe it had nothing to do with it at all but when dressings are put in front of fences have you ever had a problem.I know I have.
Also my horse duck at fences that have a roof above and knocks his legs does anyone else have this happen ,do you think they are fair as they are unnatural?

Hi
My horse fell at Smiths Lawn last year at the step out of the water, we were lacking in rain and the water had dried up away from the step and she jumped at the edge of the water and fell, friends horse did the same at the same jump, so yes agree sometimes things act as false ground lines

There was a fence at Great Missenden which caused the same problem. The groundline was false and caused a few to fall.

Saf, there were a number of falls and near misses at that water last year.

my friends horse nearly fell at the first obsticle at the water at sapey last year, front legs did the splits over it, very lucky 2 recover for the actual water. got action shots aswel!
