Hi! I'm going on a beach ride with a riding school next week and will be riding a horse that I've never met before. Do I wear my back protector or not? Thanks!

I wore mine becuse we had to ride down a tarmac road to get from the yard to the beach. And most UK beaches have breakwaters onto which one could fall.

Whether you are riding through a ford or by a lake or on the beach, one doesnt ride horses deep into water because you don't want the saddles to get wet. The Cavalry ride into the sea bareback.

Yes, def, as you’ve had that thought and asked! We can’t say, ‘no, don’t bother,’ incase something happens!
Sand can be hard and you just never know. Do they double up as a life jacket too?!

You can still hit the deck on the beach! I'd wear one personally, particularly if it's a strange horse, but most important is to have fun really!

I always wear mine. I’m that person that would get ejected onto the only rock on the beach.

I seem to have more confidence if I wear my BP, so I wear it most of the time I ride. In your situation, yes, I definitely would.
