Hi,Can anyone recommend some good beaches for riding on in Cornwall? Somewhere with a good long stretch of sand to have a blast & a good spot to park a trailer to unload. We live near to Bodmin.thankyou:)

I regularly ride on Perranporth, I usually access it from the sand dunes, and there is space to park there too. If you are new to riding on Perranporth then I would advise you to first trot where you intend to canter, so that you are aware of any soft spots that can potentially quite dangerous.

Gwithian or Marazion are also great, but a bit further away.

A friend of mine went riding on Par Beach, apparently it is not picture post card beach but you can go for quite a distance before you have to turn back. I am hoping to persuade her to come downwith me in the spring

I would say Par Beach too. Its not the best beach in the world but, for that reason, it can be quite quiet. Ideal for riding as it is a long beach :) I used to blast up and down Porthpean beach but only really viable on a pony as horses would reach the other end in a few strides!

Perranporth is the best because it's sooo long - and only 15 mins hack for me ;0)

It's best to park up by the dunes and ride on that way as that takes you on at the far end of the beach beyond flat rocks, rather than the Perranporth end. If you time it so the tide is out but not right out that means the walkers are trapped at the Perran end unless they walk up over the golf course/ Haven.

However, if you are new to riding there you won't find your way over the dunes easily (you need to head for the concrete cross on the hill and then follow the stoney path to the top of the dunes, then pick down over the soft sand dunes) so you can park either in the Texaco car park (beach car park in season but empty all winter) or on the flat road out of town by the fire station. If you park in either of these you can ride onto the beach using the sand track from the Texaco corner, which saves riding through Perranporth centre.
