Beach sand as Arena Surface

I was Riding a friends horse the other day . I have noticed that there was a sea shell in the the arena I always thought it was beach sand but that just confirmed what I thought. It super slippery when it wet . Me and my friends horse went sipping a few times. I thought you could only use certain types arena sand. Is beach sand a type of sand you would use for a arena surface.

I doubt it. I believe you need angular sand in arenas in order for it to lock together and not be deep or slippy. I'd imagine beach sand would be smoothed and rounded by the action of the sea.

You need silica sand for arenas

Builders sand and beach sand don't drain - they get very heavy and compacted very easily.
