Can anybody suggest the best to visit? I know nothing about tide timings and where you can park etc as never been before.

I am about an hour from the coast not far from Lincoln itself, so I am guessing I would be looking at Louth way or Field Farm at Mumby? I don’t have my own transport and so would be hiring a lorry for the day alone and I guess what I am wondering is if there is anybody local who may want to go for a ride? Maybe show me the area etc? I’m happy to pay for parking. Would be nice to have a bit of company for the ride with a horse which is used to the beach as my boy has never seen the sea! It would also be nice to have somebody there to capture the moment of us on the beach on camera.

I’m just pondering at this stage… he is 23 this summer and I’ve always wanted to do it but never got round to it, and not completely sure he will be keep on it as he can be quite spooky so not decided yet but any ideas, tips, please let me know ?

I’ll come with you if you like. Pepsi is well used to the beach and pretty sensible usually.

You can ride at Mablethorpe if you park at the seal sanctuary, but at this time of year you have to be off the beach by 9am or go on after 6pm there.

If you hack from field farm I think you don’t have those time limits, so is probably easier. You have to pay to park there, but you’re guaranteed a space. Plus you can use their facilities there for the day I think. There are public car parks on that stretch of beach but I don’t think there are many lorry/trailer suitable spaces as most have height barriers.

The advantage of going early/late is there’s fewer people/dogs about. But in the summer you’ll always get a few. I always like to walk/trot lines before I have a canter to make sure there’s no deep bits/holes/other hazards.
