Hiya,
Just looking for some advice on which beaches are the best to ride on? And also is there a particular one where the tide comes in enough to ride through the water? I understand you cant go in the water on low tide. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
(haven't been on here for ages sorry if I haven't posted in the right place!)

Hi, I'm a local.

you can park on berrow or brean beach- berrow is a little more expensive this time of year (both free in winter) but easier to access with a box.

You are not permitted to ride on burnham beach (essentially past the white beach lighthouse).

It isn't the best for going in the sea and tbh although I have done it in the past when down there regularly enough to know the footing (and we still saw a 16.2 disappear to his ears!) I don't do it now and tend to advise people not to (it is also better to have a high spring/autumn tide- and my previous spots have been in the berrow beach parking area or slightly to the right of the bollards there (brean side)).

With regards to riding on the beach there are a few 'sand banks' and I always suggest people keep and eye on footing and if in doubt head back the way you came for a bit/stick nearer the dunes.

Still good fun though :) just makes sense to be careful when you don't know the layout to well :).

Anything else please ask.

Thank you for your help. I would quite like to go in the sea but i understand it may not be too safe there. I dont suppose you know of any other beaches you can ? Never riden on the beach before so im not too bothered even if I cant go in the sea just be a bonus!
Thank you

I know a couple who rode at Brean and horses got stuck in the sand despite them being adamant they were in the right area. They called for all the emergency services they could and NOBODY responded. In the end the tide was coming in and they (and other members of the public who happened to help) had to hold the horses' heads up so they could breathe. Thankfully, the water loosened the horses and they managed to struggle out. All very frightening. If you go I suggest you do lots of homework...

sorry I don't know of any that are any better on this coast, I know you can ride at Sand bay (weston) but suffers from the same problem. You can do what christmassparkles did and make a day of it waiting for the tide to come in ;). (gate shuts at 8pm I think currently!)

For info if the weather is goodish it has been quite busy of late- lots of kites including kite surfers/small children etc although this also means an ice cream van :D. We tend to use it more in winter so are used to having it to ourselves.

Turks the corner at brean end does get very silty and on most trips I see people riding/walking where you would never find me. But if you're sensible its perfectly safe.
