I think Fraisthorpe is my closest beach, has any one been??

I was wondering how you find out when you can go, and things like tide times??

Id like to go at some point this year

Fraisthorpe is a great beach, parking is available at the end of a single track lane at a farm, charge has just increased to £8 for horsebox/trailers, loads of space though and a toilet at the farm. It does get busy and is popular with sand yachts etc but you can soon get away from them.

I use the BBC weather for tide times.

Hey RG
we also use Fraisthorpe beach . As Terrierliz says there are a lot of sand yachts and kite surfers but they stay close to the parking area. A little narrow to get down onto the beach when you have mothers who just push their kids in front of your horse but its a lovely wide flat beach at low tide and well worth a vist

I use Fraisthorpe too. Not sure welcome horses are in summer but the girl who takes me always rings first. Do check tide times first as there isn't much beach at high tide and avoid windy days if you have a horse that might not like kite surfers!
However it's a great beach.

We've been a few times. It's the best on the area!! And parking is fine. Never felt un welcomed. I watch the forecast for wind speed and don't go if it is too windy. The kite surfers come out in force!

Thank you guys. I will definitely take note of the kite surfers lol!
I don't think Ill be going til around October time, I think horses tend to go to the beach in winter?? It should be quieter by then, and it would be a perfect celebration of 2 years together

I've been there too and it's just fab! Lots of wide stretches when tide is out for good long canters!

Fab beach, loads of space doesnt take long to get away from kite surfers etc. it was our first time at a beach with the horses and they both settled really quickly, really must get back there this summer as it was a blast! :D Pic of my sister on the spotty one there

That's a lovely picture :D
Beautiful horse too, Id love a spotty, their lovely :D

Thanks :D Funny nobody wanted him when we tried selling him :p given up now, decided we love him to much lol! Id highly recommend them ;) He's very smart, can be challenging sometimes but lovely and puts his whole heart into whatever you ask of him :)

Some pics of me on mine here http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=476184 (don't want to clog up your thread with my old pics ;) )

It was, really must get back there :D Although it wont be as fun if we get there this summer, as oreo (black one) is recovering from a couple of injuries so would be no galloping :(

He's 16hh, he can be impatient and strong, generally not everyones cup of tea but we love him and he's not going anywhere now
