Does anyone know where is a suitable place to ride on the beach in essex? preferably as close to london as possible. have tried internet search but not found anything very useful!

Can't help in Essex, but you might find you've missed the dates that you're allowed to ride now anyway

Camber Sands don't allow riding on the beach after mid-April i think

Shoeburyness is the most popular riding beach in Essex (a lot of them don't allow horses). Check out the Essex County Council website for access routes etc. You reach it via the A127, so a straight run from london.

However, do be careful and heed tide times, and take it easy if it's your horse's first time on the beach. We lost a horse from the yard on this beach - it had a heart attack with its young rider on his back - and it can be very dangerous.
