Beanlands group/tack-up Ltd, and Wholehorse Ltd (online shopping)

use the beanlands email address, you will find it somewhere above or in the other thread. Im not convinced the one youve been sending to works or is looked at, nor is the customer services one as it gets a mailer deamon return message.

When I made the purchase it took ages to get confirmation. I used the contact form on the website (which may or may not use email - depends how it is configured) , and got a reply from Jason Beanlands gmail account. It does work. For the hell of it I will also snail-mail to Leeds.

hi all!

Sorry to kick-start an old thread again, but has everyone had their refunds/goods now??

I (stupidly) ordered from tack-up a few weeks ago without first googling them- bad move! But anyway, I've had nothing. When i check my online account, the order shows as processing. I've only ordered a breastplate, but its more the inconvenience of not getting it, and their sheer cheek to continue to take orders that is annoying me!!

Have sent 5 emails and called and left voice messages, but no response :(

Just wondering how likely I am to see the money as it was paid by debit card directly through the website- no google checkout option now!

Thanks

I eventually got a refund , but it was only after I emailed Jason Beanlands direct (he had emailed very early on when I said I had not had confirmation of the purchase).

I said I was getting in touch with my credit card company and was going to report him to Trading Standards , and a refund came back.

The email just informed me of a refund , no apology.

I reported them to Trading Standards , but I wouldn't hold my breath for them to do anything.

I don't know if Beanlands are just hopelessly disorganised or willfully like this.

Good luck !

Just wanted to say that after reading all these posts I have also contacted..Watchdog, trading standards, Rip Off Britain. I wish I had looked here first before ordering. I have emailed Beanlands etc, but as yet nothing as usual, it seems. Unfortunatley for me I didnt order using credit card and ordered for a friend as well. Thank you for all your advise and I have registered here as well

I think for a lot of us, its been a lesson in doing our research before buying, Midnight157.

Good luck with getting your goods or money :)

(eta. I paid by Debit card as well, and did get a refund in the end)

I too, have been taken in by them! I ordered some boots from them back in February and didn't receive my order even though I contacted them many times. At one point I told them I wanted to cancel my order and then they charged my credit card!!

Found the threads very useful on here tho, and will be going down the same channels to try and get my money back, just don't want the hassle of it all really!

Oh dear another one :(

This is ridiculous. Shouldnt be allowed to be trading IMO, its obviously not the odd unfortunate error on his part is it, its happening over and over and over again.

Good luck, and dont let the hassle put you off, thats what people like this rely on, you giving up and going away with your tail between your legs.

They won't be getting away with with it, the amount of money they owe me is too much to brush under the carpet and even so, it's the principle of it and the fact it's illegal!

I placed my order on the 1st of Feb for 2 pairs of Columbia boots (wasn't sure what size I'd be) and everything seemed fine, although I hadn't heard of them before. Got an invoice and online it said order was in progress - great! Still no boots on the 8th of Feb which was past the delivery estimate they give, so I emailed them and other than the automated response didn't hear anything. Bought an alternative pair of boots in the meantime as it was taking too long and then emailed them again to cancel my order a few days later and asked for a refund. Then noticed on the 19th Feb that my credit card had been charged!! Fair enough if the boots had turned up, I could just send them back but they hadn't!

So far have emailed them, left a message on Facebook threatening Trading Standards will be contacted along with my credit card company for fraud. Will try ringing the various phone numbers people have put on here for them later. Have since found out from another online tack shop that the Columbia boots have been discontinued, so goodness knows where Tack-up are going to find them - probably why they haven't arrived!!

I can't believe this is still happening months later!

Just report them to Trading Standards (as I did last year!!!). Trading Standards need to get enough complaints? I also wrote to WatchDog, but don't know what came of that! Report them to BBC's WatchDog!! Report them to your credit card company also! Google cancelled their account way back after I made my initial complaint and negative review (I paid via Google). I even wrote to the person they were supposed to be sponsoring at the time, who herself was having trouble with them!! I created such a stir, which led to me 'eventually' getting a refund after they benefited from hanging onto my money!!

Something is completely & utterly amiss here and they continue to trade via their website and Facebook shop (and any other I may not know of...). Just had a look on their website, and the contact page is exactly the same with those red-highlighted words re. their telephone system (this is a complete lie as they want the least amount of contact from you as possible). Do not leave a telephone message as it will not get through! Do not leave any kind of contact via that page, as I think they block it!!! Just email them direct from your email account!! Pay them a visit if you live close enough!! I just painstakingly sent loads of emails each day and I would have also paid them a little visit if I wasn't so far away!!!

They are a terrible company and should be shut down!! I had such a stressful experience because of them and from now on will google for any reviews or reports on any companies I am unfamiliar with!! I am sure they are somehow committing fraud! Those who got refunds, were the ones who kicked up a stink! There are others who have just let it go as the stress was too much, allowing Tack-Up to win & keep your money for nothing!! They will not contact you first, as far as I know! I am unfamiliar with legalities, but it's as if they can get away with this as long as they eventually give you a refund (after you have persisted), but not before they have earned the interest by hanging on to your money first!!

Just report them to all concerned! Provide reviews from your experiences, to hopefully reach & warn other potential customers! I can't think what else people can do to stop this continuing....

Thanks for the advice Custard Cream, but I paid via Google Checkout using my debit card. You only get covered by your Credit Card if you have paid over £100 I think. It doesn't look like Google has any kind of buyer protection like Paypal/Ebay. I've made a complaint to them though!

To me it's obvious they are shafting people and I wonder how many more people they are doing/have done this to? It says on their homepage that they sponsor Abbie Squires..... so I sent a message via her website to inform them of the situation & to ask how to get hold of Jason Beanland or Julia Clough (the Directors of Tack Up)? I am willing to try anything now... I just want my money back!!!! If I lived close enough, I'd be making a little visit to their premises (I live in Ipswich)... I have left a negative review on Google to warn others against them!!

I hope you get a good result Snow Angel... plz let me know if your bank can help.

Hi ngrace.... have you heard anything further? Did you write to them and did you get a response/result?

Do we have any legal standing as buyers? Is it worth contacting Watchdog, etc?

Hmph!

Jo x

I haven't read the rest of the post so forgive me if some-one has already answered. Contact your bank, tell them you want to make a Visa Chargeback claim for goods not received. Visa will refund you.

You should be able to get your money back if the amount is under £100 and you paid by credit card.

I tried the same tactics with Tack-up that all you guys did on here but got no response, so it isn't worth wasting time trying! In the end I contacted my bank and filed a retail dispute claim. I had to give them copies of all emails sent etc - I even gave the bank the link to this forum!! I was, thankfully, lucky and got my money back. My advice would be don't bother contacting Tack-up, just go straight to your bank and when shopping online pay by credit card whenever you can. It's a lesson I've certainly learned from this experience!

Just want to say thanks to everyone who posted about their experience, gave advice etc about this company as I found it really helpful!

Now, to contact Trading Standards, warn other people on other forums and to contact Facebook to get the Tack-up page taken down!! Their website at the moment has clearance sale on it, hmmm!

I have a dispute claim form on my desk at the moment ready to send off to my credit card centre who I was in touch with recently. As a matter of interest, if you plug in Tack-Up's address (on their contact page) in 'street view' on Google Maps you will discover that they are operating from a very modest semi-detached house on a council estate and there are two other businesses listed at this address - JB Removals and Storage, and The Building Protection Society (can't find them on the net) which is categorised as a charity on the Google Map page. Draw your own conclusions from this. Is all this within the law? I very much doubt it in which case why can't these people, whoever they are, be STOPPED!

why does the fact they run the business from home make them dodgy???? I run my online business from my as you say 'very modest' house which happens to be on an estate. I am genuine and so is my business. Are they ltd registered? Cant answer for the other business registered to the address. Still doesnt excuse their terrible service though.

So sorry if I caused offence, pixiebee, certainly not intended. Of course it is possible to run a successful and reputable business from home. The point I was making is this. This is how Tack-up describe themselves on Facebook:

No.1 Discount equestrian Feed and Tack Store.
http://www.tack-up.co.uk/ is the new discounted equestrian store, stocking everything from saddlery fastenings to saddles and tack, a must have for every equestrian person and yard owners.

Unless their house is called The Tardis, how is it possible to stock 'everything from saddlery fastenings to saddles and tack'? They are not, in any way, shape or form, a store.

hmm yes, i see your point!! we never describe ourselves as a store, quite simply because we are not! we simply wouldnt have room to store everything we sold! we stock the best sellers and drop ship the rest, works quite nicely!! they do seem a bit odd!

just seen their site, they are updating it so they must still be active!! makes me laugh the bit about the biggest equestrian store online, haha *somebody* i know has three times the variety and quite clearly three times the customer service! im assuming they must fullfill some orders to keep going??

Hurray! Managed to get my money refunded via my credit card company after submitting a dispute claim form. Weirdly, this afternoon, I've had an email 'update' from Tack-Up with all sorts of promises as to how the company is going to improve response to emails, how it is going to install a new call-centre, new returns policy, blah-di-blah-di-blah. Do I believe them? Frankly, no. Would be interested if other disgruntled customers have been sent this email.

Hi yes I have received the email today as well. Haven't received my refund though, still waiting. Submitted a dispute form to my credit card company a couple of weeks ago so hoping something will come through soon. If they are planning to relaunch their business after this fiasco they have got a massive job on their hands to get their customers' confidence back!

I got the email too. What a nerve, words just fail me! Thankfully I got a refund from my credit card company.

I especially like this bit,

"NO UPFRONT PAYMENTS, we will no longer charge your cards upfront, your payments will only be taken when your order is packed and ready to be despatched. Your orders will be shipped the same day as the payment is taken, the card system will just authorise your card to confirm enough funds are available but will not take any money from your card."

I always thought that a company couldn't charge your card until the item was packed and despatched?

Also this,
"Any customers that still have outstanding orders will receive a refund shortly, we have sent requests to our card processing company to refund these customers as soon as possible."

Well, they can refund my credit card company!

This made me laugh too,

"As a way of apology when we re-instate the website on to the internet, all our customers accounts registered on our website will automatically be presented with a 15% discount from all our products for a full 6 month period, once logged in you will see the discounted price. We know your probably saying “what a cheek, like i'll order from them again” but when the website relaunches things will be a little different to how we did things before."

As if anyone who has dealt with them or read any threads on here would touch them with a bargepole!!! They really are asking a lot!

I've certainly learnt my lesson and will only buy things online using either PayPal or my credit card and also checking the company first. Although I did recently have my faith restored with online shopping recently when I bought a macro lens for my DSLR camera from an online forum - thankfully not everyone is out there to scam you!

We know your probably saying “what a cheek, like i'll order from them again” but when the website relaunches things will be a little different to how we did things before."

Well they got this bit right!

I wouldnt touch them with someone elses bargepole, a measly 15% off wont tempt me.

Ah Ive just checked my mail and Ive got it too.

Clears a few things up though, I can now blame HMRC VAT Department for not sending me my order while holding onto my money, and ignoring my many many emails asking for my goods or a refund.

Bad HMRC

The beanlands threads keep bouncing back up with depressing regularity as someone else gets duped, ngrace.

Still no refund?!

About 1 year or so ago, Jason applied to me for a trade account with me, he provided all the neccesary evidence he was in business and about to start trading, I accepted him agreeing to provide stock for his clients and every so often he'd contact me for updates on my stock and ask me loads of questions. About 6 months ago I deleted his account as I got fed up with him, he never bothered to order anything and I class him as a time wasting dreamer.
I hope you all get a satisfactory result to your missing items, regards, Oz

This is exactly why I will continue to support my local tack shops. I may pay an extra few pounds but I can pretty much get what I want, when I want it and not be ripped off and end up with no item and no money.
