Just thought I'd post a little update about my boy!!

He's being very good, albeit still very very thick!!

He had his boy bits off a couple of weeks ago, we have a couple of public rights of way going through our property and I just didn't want to risk any bitches on heat. Anyway you wouldn't have known he had it done as the next day he was straight back to normal and there was no chance of lead exercise only!

Yesterday we had our first walk, in public off the lead! He is 6 months now and we took him and his sister to a place with a nice short circular route. He is very good when meeting other animals anyway so I just made sure we took a whole pack of cocktail sausages and almost overrewarded him every time he came back so that hopefully he will never get the chance to get into the habit of ignoring me.

Last week he also went visiting at Hartpury for the dressage champs and sat very quietly for the whole day apart from when he needed the loo and then he was a bit fidgety! But who can blame him. He saw his brother (with Teffy) and they had a little snog and then Bear growled at him and told him to get out of his space!

Tommorrow he is off to his first point to point and presuming that I don't have too much champagne and sloe gin I hope that he will continue to be a doddle to take out.

Sorry for a self indulgent post but I think I've been so lucky to have such a laid back puppy. He is infamous in the area for it and everyone comments. But I have to say I am so pleased as at 6 months he is already weighing 33kg and I don't look forward to the day he decides he want to go in a different direction to me! We are just starting our KC bronze award at the minute so we need to get some practise in for stay but otherwise he is doing really well.

Love his dark face - he's very handsome.

Good luck with the Bronze, I've just started Xara for her Bronze training but trying to find a decent trainer where I live has been like mission impossible. Found one now though so hopefully we can get started.

Can I just ask why you had him at 4 weeks old? Where's his mother? Sorry if Ive missed a previous post, but 4 weeks, away from his mother?!
Anyway, he is gorgeous, I always wanted a german shepherd. Good luck with him

Hi, I took on the whole litter (7 pups) when the mum rejected them and the owner was threatening to have them pts as they were a mistake anyway.

I have to say though that I think they show what nurture can do over nature. When I picked them up they had no handling and had come from 2 guard dog parents. They were growling and going to try and bite you but all of them ended up well rounded and socialised pups.

I bet that was hard work! I admire you for helping out those puppies and its a good job the mum did reject them if they were growling as puppies. Well done, they are beautiful

Hi Cala, thanks!! Obviously I'm biased but I would have to agree that he must be one of the most handsome sheps!!!!

I would not hesitate to recommend a shepherd to someone (as long as they made sure they gave it the right handling). He has been fantastic. He doesn't get excited by visitors and is so soft and gentle with my niece and nephew and doesn't react at all even when they tread on him. He has (so far) been a great introduction to the breed.

He has turned into a really handsome lad, thanks for posting the pics. Good luck with the bronze, I sweated over Evies stays but she managed it. Should have done silver just before Easter but the little darling came in season

Are you going to Eyton tomorrow, we are taking Evie, which could be embarrassing as she is going through a stage of being very vocal when she meets other dogs. If you are there you will probably hear us before you see us

ETS. Totally agree with you regarding nurture over nature, as I have said previously you have done a brilliant job raising this litter and must take all the credit for how they have turned out.
