Ran over 3 miles 2 furlongs, over the National fences at Aintree. Set to be as an exciting race as ever! 8 runners, listed race, going good to soft (officially). Starting in 5 minutes on BBC2

Tony McCoy took over the ride on Irish Raptor after Timmy Murphy was sidelined due to concussion. Unfortunately Tony just fell at the 2nd fence,

along with Graham Lee on Idle Talk.

And the Winner is Vic Venturi, ridden by Paddy Flood and trained by Dessie Hughes! 2nd - Keenans Future. 3rd - Royal Rosa. 4th - Palypso De Creek and finally, 5th - Hello Bud who is trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies (aka TFFFN!) alongside Irish Raptor.

AP put himself on the floor......... watch the replay........... he pushed IR for a stride that was far too long........ IR chipped, and AP hit the deck......
Wonder how much difference Denis' 6lb over made to Royal Rosa?

I don't agree. Tony sat very quietly going into the jump and IR got in to close. He certainly didn't kick on for a long one

Thought it lacked a bit of strength in depth this season to be honest. Very few runners as well this year compared to most renewals. Not a very good pointer for the Grand National itself in my opinion though. Mainly due to differences in ground conditions and the fact that the Becher is mainly a slog by staying handicap chasers whereas the National with a much larger field and stronger end to end gallop generally requires a horse with a bit of class about it who can also get the trip.
Not a bad race to look back at though for the season's staying handicap chases at park courses as well as of course for the following year's Becher chase.
I was not over impressed by the Beeb's coverage too. Especially on the Sunday. Didn't get a good look at the horses before the races and I don't think any of the winning trainers were interviewed post race either were they? I believe it was just the jockeys.
